Pontoon Boats And Aircompressors
murray replied to sldrose's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I think I paid somewhere around 200.00. I works great on the pontoon but where it really shines is pumping up the Zodiac. Murray -
Pontoon Boats And Aircompressors
murray replied to sldrose's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I use a BRAVO super turbo bst 12 HP. BASICALLY IT OPERATES OFF A 12 volt battery, connects with a couple of alligator clips to the posts of the battery. It has a regulator that you set for your desired pressure. The way it works is at low pressure it pumps at high volume. When it gets up to 6 or 7 psi, it switches over to a second pump, high pressure but low volume. This is the best pump I've seen. Simply rig it up, plug the hose in and turn it on. It will turn off when you reach your predetermined pressure. I got it at Auto Marine, just off McLeod trail and 50th ave. talk to Brian or Sue. Murray -
Mike, I'll check my lines too. Just let me know what weights. Murray

Motels In Crowsnest Pass

I second the BCMI at Blairmore. I have stayed there several times for work. The rooms are not fancy, the price is reasonable and the restaurant serves up a pretty good meal. Oh, there is also a lounge as well. Murray -

Anyone Going To Edmonton Soon?
murray replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I have Thursday off so why dont we meet up for lunch or something. I can drive to someplace close to you. Murray -
Ryan, those shots are spectacular! I have discovered that I also have an interest in the stars and planets. A couple of years ago, my wife bought me an inexpensive telescope so that I could watch the stars with my two Grandaughters. I also discovered that I know nothing about the heavens, but I do have an interest, not a passion like yourself. Murray

Anyone Going To Edmonton Soon?
murray replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Mike, the only thing that might screw this up is the weather. There is a weather warning out for tomorrow afternoon with a possible 25 cm of snow tomorrow afternoon and Thursday. Either way, if the roads are bad, we will delay our trip till Saturday. But we're still making the trip. Send me a PM on how to pick up the package and where to deliver it. Murray -
Anyone Going To Edmonton Soon?

Hey guys, I am heading that way for Easter weekend. I intend to leave Friday sometime around noon. If you need a delivery, send me a note. Murray -
Yup! Murray

Have you ever wondered why various landowners refuse access to certain parts of the river? Would it have anything to do with abuse? I hope that comment about the universal key is a joke. It doesn't take very many locks being cut to color all fisher people with the same brush. Murray

I spent the whole weekend at the show sitting at either one of two booths. Tied up a few flies, gave away most of them, and talked to lots of people. I went in thinking I had all of the rods that I need. Who knew that 10 ft. 5 weight Snowbee Prestige would be 40 percent off. I think it will reach out past the ice edge along shore. Any time you can spend the weekend with a bunch of great guys is a great weekend. Thanks Ron,Brad and Lornce. Murray

Kristi, the FF show at Spruce Meadows is an excellant way to meet some of the people from this board. Stop by the booth and introduce your self. There are lots of short seminars and tieing demos all through the weekend. Check out the web site, fly fishing events .com to see what the seminars are all about. The workshops are all about 2 hours long and well worth the cost in my opinion. I'll be spending some time at the fly fish calgary booth. Not too sure if that is the actual name on the booth but there should be several guys taking turns tieing some flies. You should probably find something on sale that you need. If you see me at the show, say Hi. I'm the old guy. Murray

Need Electric Trolling Motor Advice
murray replied to Walton's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I have both, a 55 lb and a 30 lb thrust Minkota. I use the 30 for the pontoon and the 55 on the Zodiac. As mike (Tungsten) says, battery life is certainly a consideration. Trolling will drain your battery over the course of the day so if you have a way to recharge it, no problem. I think , if you bought a 30 lb. motor, you would not be happy with the performance on your other boat. The 45 mentioned above would be a good compromise. Murray -
I second that. Murray

Slave Lake Donations End Up At The Dump!
murray replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Frustrating is an understatement. After the unfortunate Albertans in Slave Lake lost everything they owned, my wife and I, as well as my daughter and her family donated several items including some items that were brand new. We left all these items with a group that was to pass everything along to the Slave Lake relief effort. After hearing the news story, I was quite upset, why do we even try? Murray -
Lornce, how many capes do you think are on that dress? Would 200 be a good guess? I just checked the final sale price of that cape, it went for 860.00. That is one expensive dress! Murray

I seem to remember awhile back City Council voted on weather or not to alllow residents to raise chickens in the city. Sounds like a good way to suplement the retirement income. Food plus feathers. Murray

Can you believe the price of hackle these days? I was just checking E Bay and came across this. May I should sell all of my hackle and just buy the flies. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Whiting-Grizzly-Saddle-...=item415b57a68b Murray

Pat, I know what what you mean on the pontoon boat. Before I bought mine I thought that they are pretty pricey and would I really get that much use out of it. Also, how effective was it for fishing out of and other questions along that line. To say nothing about what features or which boat I would like. After thinking about it for a couple of weeks, as well as watching The Bargain Finder and other similar adds, one boat caught my eye. It was just a basic Water Skeeter entry level boat that I ended up buying. That was about 5 years ago and I have never regretted it yet. Having the boat gives me the flexibility to decide on a float in the morning and to actually be on the water 1/2 hour later. The boat I have will dissassemble and fit in the back of a car, my wifes Acura CSX, similar to a Honda Civic. Actually the time required to be on the water is closer to an hour than a half hour. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to inflate and put the boat together. The tricky part is convincing your wife to pick you up at the end of the day. I think I average about 15 trips each year so cost per trip is pretty reasonable. One thing I would add is that when you do catch a bigger fish while you are floating, it's hard to control the fish when you are floating south and Mr. fish decides to head North. I've lost a lot of big fish that way. Either way, if you do end up buying a boat, I dont think you will regret it. I dont ever have to wait for someone else to agree to go fishing. I just pack up the boat and go. I have a spare boat now so if you wanted to give it a try before you decide, send me a note. Murray
