  1. been fishin the bow fer 18 years now. every year ive used a 9'6" 6wt. dries, nymphs and large streamers. i have never had an issue casting to any water from shore. which brings me to my question, whered the spey rods come from? is this a fad? now i do remember having troubles casting at a distance in my rookie years. do spey rods make casting easier, kinda like parabolic skiis make skiing easier? how far do you really need to cast on the bow? 60-70 feet max! i hope. any further and its just getting rediculous! maybe im wrong, maybe im missing something, but i was under the impression spey rods were built for tough fighting, 30 lb salmon, or surf casting? ive watched the spey casters on shore. and i give a chuckle when they pull in 18" bows on 15' 10 wt pole. whats the deal? somebody please tell me?

  6. wtf? nice size!! i gotta be fishin the wrong lake.
  7. we brave cold wind in morning light, while wading water mid wader height. we barely notice the can go by, staring intently at our fly. only hours old, fresh off the vice. we feel certain the fish will rise. the rising pattern sporattic at best, for him its survival, for us its a test. this cast feels different, a little slowed down. you add a small mend, so your fly wont drown. the stealthful rise, a sip of your fly. then all goes quiet and you realize. the years of flogging and ambled casts, all lead to this moment, the ultimate test. like a primal instinct, you set your hook. no one can learn this from reading a book. why do we do this? im asked by some guy. all reasons are different, but we'll do it till we die.

  11. i remember when my gramps passed, his old fly box ended up in my vest. much like the ones youre tyin, these flies produced awesome trout throughout southern Ab. is old skool becoming the new skool? i never did master the wings, either got mangled or fell off during cast. nice flies man, id like to see more of these patterns end up in the shops! you use a tool for the wings or freehand?
