. I haven't seen that myself.National Geographic says "Eagles often force osprey to drop fish that they have caught and steal them in midair."

Last weekend I stopped at a bird-watch tower to photograph some of the moving birds and saw something exciting. About half-way to my session, I saw many of the birds taking off and chasing a bird. It was an osprey looking for a prey. He took only a few rounds and dived into the water. When he was back in the air, he held a huge bream. After turning it head first, he flied away.

Sounds like a great adventure...rafting the Snake Indian River without a proper plug, flipping her over and swimming sound a bit too extreme for me, though

Well, you know "Man plans, God laughs". You didn't get those golds, but you surely got some shiny photos. For me that would do the trip, too. Fantastic images and the cloudy weather helped you avoid blow-outs and brought out the colors.

You're nuts, but looking at the photos I got why you did those climbs. That height/width combination is a no-no for me, but getting these superb photos would make me think it over. :=)

Pentax Optio Wxx (e.g. 90) if you like macros (down to 1cm focus) and want a slimmer profile, beside underwater functions.
If you want to go for highest pic quality for some extra bucks, Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2.

The day before, I had same situation with the indy and forgot my big hoppers in the car... for next time I am tying some yellow indicators with a hook hidden in it.

Ok, really...its my second fish, but the first was a 7'' bow(Makes it a fry not a fish right?)...Doesn't make for a great story anyway
. This guy would be my first cast using a streamer...Its been almost 2 weeks now and I can't replicate what I did 
I did run down to the river just after it finished pouring so the water was a bit murky. Might have helped a bit, not sure. 22''-23'' Cork on my road is 7'' so I am approximating

Thanks for sharing the photos and story, HopperDropper. In fact, I love the story of wrong lake, but it is probably more funny now than before you knew why there was no fish. That Golden Trout looks so nice and unreal.

Great photos, BobLobLaw. Nature in Jasper NP looks amazing! I was there only in winter and that was quite different.
I see you guys were prepared, fish locator, cooker, etc. It must have been an awesome trip and hopefully many more to come in this season.

Good question and looking at the answers people are interested to get better at shooting fish photos!
Here is how I do:
Once I landed the fish, I remove the hook and keep the fish in the net in slowly flowing or standing water. I have quick setting for shooting closeups, so I switch that on. If necessary I turn on the flash (low light or fill in situation, I usually choose "soft flash"). For the photo I gently lift the fish head or the whole body and take quick shots. Be slow when touching the fish (not grabbing). Be careful not to touch the lateral line, which is really sensitive. I take max two photos and put back the fish into the water.
For self portraits, I follow the same settings as Max (maybe it was him who wrote earlier about it)... interval shooting, place the camera on a rock or ground, try to position to be front-or side-lit, ensure wide enough zooming.
For underwater shots, I do use continuous and burst modes. I often add flash too, which could create awesome effects, as well. Be sure you position the fish, so that it is well lit in the water! This makes or breaks the clarity of an UW photo. I wish Pentax would have designed this camera with a swing LCD, so you could see the photo from above. I rarely put my head under the water to take a shot.
There seem to be some additions (mirrors) that do this trick.BTW, I setup the "green button" (on Pentax), so that the most important settings are easy to reach. You may find this programmable buttons on other cameras, as well.

Sick fish and great shots, Max. Good to see you get that variety of fish on fly. Same goes for the photos. I've seen enough "grip and grin" photos, so your variety of subjects, angles and composition is refreshing. Keep these pics coming!

(Un)fortunately, I have no experience with Australian customs.
However, based on the reality show (Australian borders?) that we receive here, they are extremely protective of their environment and thus custom is very strict. Of course, the show presents mostly problematic customers, but one not declared sandwich (contained vegetables and meat of foreign origin) may cause you 150 bucks. Be sure to make a complete list of your items and better declare more than less. Fine was required to pay on site! These thoughts are all based on one TV programme, so "hopefully" someone has hands-on experience.

Wait until the Pentax W90 comes out, first..
Being a Pentax Optio fan, I have posted the news on this board when W90 was released.
From the internet, it looks that you can order it (on stock) from many shops. It does make my W60 look old.

Nice clear shots and beautiful water! Though, I would not use the digital zoom, unless I know I want the photo only in low res.
These UW cameras perform pretty well outdoor, but one need to figure out how to get decent shots indoor. The macro feature is also a bonus for fly-fishermen or anyone.
Just make sure your photos are well exposed (well lit, but that should not be a problem in BC & AB) and you will fall in love with this camera.

I am about to order a few pairs from this site - you have to wonder about glasses from a site like this but a few guys I know around town have a few pair and so far can't tell any diff from the $600 glasses bought in the city

It's about the same price they were selling the W60 when I bought it... though I doubt it will be $330 equivalent in euro.
We shall see what reviews say about quality of image and usefulness of new features... until then that W80 offer is pretty good.

I dig your monos! (The 100mm macro (L and non-L) is a great lens.) You have got really clean shot at ISO 800. (I read that the 50D image quality is pretty good for crop.)
Tight lines and keep them coming.
