  1. The long awaited DVD, Metalhead will arrive in the shop on Friday, February 26.
A lot of people have asked for this title (it's taken forever). Get yours while they're still around!
    post-2530-1267043275.jpg
Chronicles the epic journey of five fish bums and their friends as they travel to remote Northwestern wilderness in search of legendary steelhead; the hottest freshwater fish you can catch on a fly rod and also a fish whose survival hangs in the balance.
  2. BULL TROUT FLIES
We decided to re-do this seminar.
We had one back in December but a lot of people were stuck in a blizzard.
Brent Piche will show his some of his beastly flies for Bull Trout.
A popular seminar last year with some pretty cool tying techniques.

All attendees will be entered in a draw for the flies tied at the seminar.

Hope to see you on Saturday. While you're here, check out the new issue of
Drake Magazine as well as some new books and fly tying materials just arrived.
  3. It's almost here, (and the weather is indicative!)

  4. 101609_hydrosB.jpg

Exclusive to Country Pleasures Fly Fishing, the brand new Orvis Hydros is really something to behold.

Built on the same blank as the world-renowned Helios, the Hydros is the lightest rod for it's pricepoint (and up to 22% lighter then other manufacturer's top end rods).
We have to admit, it is far away the nicest casting rod we've ever seen for under $600.
It was also awarded the 2009 Midcurrent.com Best Of Show Award, and available in 3 through 12 weight configurations.

If you have any questions about this rod, be sure to stop by our booth at the Fly Fishing Expo this weekend and give it a cast, this rod will turn some heads.

Check our post in the Sponsor's Announcements for an update on what we'll be doing at the show.

  5. You will need 80' with one back cast.

The information answering your question as to rod weight has been sound and correct.

However the statement indicating you must be able to cast 80 feet with a single back cast

is somewhat flawed. For most Bonefishing you are far better served practicing, and mastering,

accuracy out to 50 to 60 feet. Always practice using targets, as opposed to just "throwing string".

It's also not a bad idea to practice on Chinook days so as to get used to casting in wind. Change

things up every once in a while so that the wind is coming form different directions, not always from

your back. Once you have hit the target 5 out of 5 casts then change directions. We tell people they should

practice to be consistent hitting a Frisbee sized target at 50 feet.

This will prepare you for the accuracy needed for Bonefishing. As you practice more the increased distance

should come along but if I had a choice I would take hitting the target at 50 feet over being able to throw bombs

to 80 feet all day long.

Have fun on your upcoming trip!

  12. WEEK IN THE LIFE SERIES

    Babine River

We started this type of presentation a few years ago and people seemed
to really enjoy them. The Week in the Life series are slide
shows and presentations on places around the world that we have fished.

Some cool photos and stories make a cold Saturday morning in winter
    a little easier to take.

10 AM. There is no charge, no registration, just show up.

Oh, and Maureen is back so we get muffins for this one.
Sorry to those who attended last week but you really don't want
