  1. that is disgusting.  i pity the poor guy that comes in to clean up and finds those packages.  this would be a good practical joke for Geocaching....surprise surprise...

on a serious note i agree the world is changing on the constant.  Seems the sense of community, care for environment, and in general each other is gone.  Sad state.

  2. I have the galaxy s3 phone and is a very nice phone and like it much better then the iphone as the apps are available and most of them are free. the only thing i will tell you i have dropped my wifes Iphone 5 numerous time and it is still solid. I dropped my Samsung once, it fell maybe a foot and half on to a coffee table at the doctors office and the screen is shattered. done some research and it is a major flaw in the design. the cost to repair... $300 to $350. and yes it had a case with adequate protection (Otter defender).

Next phone will be the Iphone for me. $600 for a phone that breaks so easy..forget it.

  3. good website for review about various foods.

    http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/brand/

IMO i would go with high quality vs. low quality. Raw Food is an option but will run about $70 per week.

we are currently using Petcurean Dog Food. and we switch up the flavours bag to bag.

there are many good quality brands out there just need to find one that has good ingredients and your dog will eat.

  4. Um, I don't think they cover stuff that you throw out in the garbage. I couldn't live with myself to try and BS my way through it, it's not who I am.

Dave, yeah I might be interested in that spool but I now have no islanders left (reels) as I lost my other one ono the bank of the Bow last year. Still hoping to see that one someday but it's been over a year now :(

Some policies cover for misplace, lost, and maybe even thrown out. I would check with the insurance provider. You might even have a one free claim. I know my insurance has this provision.

  5. I have a Trolling motor and want to put the battery in the middle to the front of the boat in order to balance it. Is this something that you can do. someone at wholesale sports told me that you can't add extensions. I want to believe him but was quite a young lad and seemed to be not sure of himself. I guess I'm looking for a second opinion.

I tried to contact Minn Kota but their internet is messed up..... keep getting a communication error screen when i send them messages on their contact us message center.

  6. here we go, some medium and small maols. I wish i had more colors but this is what a made.

Are you using a swivel for head vs. a cut off hook? If so, that is quite brilliant. I have been using a large hook and cutting off the hook part. I have seen folks use cotter pins but i think this might be much better.

  7. The last couple of summers, I am finding all sorts of ant hills all over my lawn and garden. Do any of you have any ancient family secrets how to get rid of or control these little monsters. A guy cant even play bocce and have a beer in his back yard without being over run by ANTS

ground coffee. worked for me last year.

  8. My wife and I are thinking of buying an Outcast PAC1200 2 person pontoon boat as an easier to store and transport alternative to a driftboat. So far, I haven't seen any negative comments on the web. Do any list members have any experience with this boat. It looks ideal for our purposes, but I would be very interested in others' views.

    thanks

Well I have a Dave Scadden McKenzie drifter and have no issues with two people fishing at the same time. I have two standing platforms and floated the bow with both my wife in front and myself in back standing and had no issues. its just a tad tricky in fast water. they are very wide and track quite well.

I started out without using a trailer but found that it was easier to have a trailer so you do not have to break it down every time. Assembly from start to finish is about 15 min. Frame fully assembled and attached the toons is 5 min so only a 10 min savings but just is a pain setting up and taking down.

I love the boat that I have, so I would imagine the PAC1200 would be good as well.

    hope this helps.

PS. you can use them as a single toon but sometimes 13' toons is alot to handle with fins.

  9. Was wondering if anyone on the board has had laser eye surgery in the last year or so.. Where did you go? How long is the healing process? Did you have any issues after the procedure?

I want to get it done but would like to understand what folks think about it after the procedure. I understand its relatively safe but can have issues.

    any input would be appreciated.

  10. I'm not really sure what I mean... I'll check out double-edged razor blades for a safety razor. It just seems that typical razor blades, found in mach 3's and such, are much to thin. I assume that the above razors are much thicker. Checked Wally World last night and didn't see anything that I was looking for, I'll have to check one of the drug stores.

    Thanks

this is what you are look for.

  11. My 2 cents on your concrete troubles;

90% of all concrete cracking is due to workmanship. The diagram posted above is excellent but it does not tell you how those problems occur.

-Spalling and excessive shrinkage cracks occur from too high a slump when placed (easier for the finishers).

    - Incorrect placement of expansion joint / sawcuts.

    - Not kept wet during initial cure ( 2 to 7 days)

    - Insufficient mesh placement or used mesh instead of rebar. Most of the time I see the mesh or bar laying on the gravel were it is useless.

    - If you recall in Edmonton last year there where literally 100's of driveways and steps that literally crumbled from particular reputable home builders who were all using the same general concrete contractor. Inland concrete basically was in the news and said tough luck. Go after your general.

    - During the salad days a small concrete contractor with a crew of 5 or 6 guys could form and pour around 3 driveways / sidewalks a day if they were good. At around $20K per house +- that is pretty good coin.

Worst of all I believe you still only have a one year warranty on new homes. Not much happens now a days at -20C.

I couldn't agree more....the contractor that pored my driveway punched the rebar holes to close to the surface of the garage slab and 3 years later I ended up with large chunks from the edge of the slab popping off. I removed the chunks to put patches and that was when I noticed that they had the rebar only 1 inch below the surface. Home warranty did nothing, contractor told me that concrete is not a covered product unless it is structural(basement walls), builder told me they can not do anything for me. Neighbor of mine works in concrete industry told me that i would have to cut out 2 to 3 feet of concrete from my slab and re-pore. (cost could be $5K)

very sad.... They pored 6 drive ways on my block in one day(8 guy crew)

  12. Thanks...once you guys get Chaparral fixed...you too can get addicted to fishing within 5 minutes of the house.

    Kevin,

You should talk to the folks at Chaparral and see if you can get a consulting role. The lady told me that this year the put in small ones because they were cheaper. Last year I was C&R fish 20-23 inches. This year i only caught 12-16 inch fish. there are a few biggn's but more little fish now.
