  1. Love ours (We have a Tundra 50)! Well worth the $!! My wife was skeptical at first, then she experienced how long the ice stuck around (at least a week)! Would probably go one size up for car camping and canoe trips. A tad heavy and pricey but those are the only complaints!

She now wants a Roadie for the car for after hiking trips!

Ice for a week?? Damn! Coulda used that bad boy when we went salmon fishing in BC and were in the middle of nowhere (literally) for four days....all our ice melted and the beer got warmish lol

    Still can't drink 1516......

  2. Conor touched on something I struggle with, trajectory. Seems whether I try to land softly or not I'm still crashing into the water heavy.

The only advice that I can give is to try treating your presentation cast no differently than a false cast. Once you stop the rod and let the loop roll out, just lower the tip of the rod and allow the line to land.

I too sometimes get too excited an try to get the fly out there asap and that's when my trajectory gets too low and I start slamming the water. Sometimes, letting the line roll out is easier said than done lol

  3.

    Thanks for the reply man
out of the 3 rods, I like the feel of the BvK the best, hands down.
Lightweight, firm, and well-balanced (I sound like I am talking about one of those chicks from Game of thrones haha)
So do you find that when you cast dry flies in flat water that there is more of an impact on the water with the faster action of the BvK, (and potentially scaring more trout) or is this just hearsay?
    Thanks again man

I would basically echo what danhunt said. Once the line and leader are completely rolled out, it doesn't matter the speed of the rod as only the weight of the line/leader/fly is what is landing on the water. If you cast like Hank Peterson and snap it like its hot and slam the fly on the water, then, yeah, I guess it would cause more of a disturbance lol

  4. I have the 8'6" BVK in a 5wt that I use specifically for dries on the Bow.

I absolutely love it. So much in fact that I now have a 8'0" 3wt for the mountain streams.

If you want to try it out, give me a shout and we can set some time up one morning/weekend and I'll let you give her a cast. If you like the Signature Series, you're likely gonna love the BVK. I had the 8'6" 5wt Signature Series when I upgraded to the BVK.

  5. A teacher asks her class, 'If there are 5 birds sitting on a fence and you shoot one of them, how many will be left?' She calls on little Ralphy.

He replies, 'None, they will all fly away with the first gunshot.'

The teacher replies, 'The correct answer is 4, but I like your thinking..'

Then little RALPHY says, 'I have a question for YOU.

There are 3 women sitting on a bench having ice cream:

One is delicately licking the sides of the triple scoop of ice cream.

The second is gobbling down the top and sucking the cone.

The third is biting off the top of the ice cream.

    Which one is married?'

The teacher, blushing a great deal, replied, 'Well, I suppose the one that's gobbled down the top and sucked the cone.'

To which Little RALPHY replied, 'The correct answer is 'the one with the wedding ring on,' but I like your thinking.'

  6. Orvis a Safe Passage Sling here as well.......though I've bern tempted by the Wliiam Jospeh Exedous and the Fishpond Double Haul. Also wondering about the comfort of wearing those for a few hours, so still reading reviews and other's perspectives.

I have the William Joseph Exodus pack and it's great for the all day fishing outings. Plenty of room for all my gear, lunch, rain jacket, water bladder, etc. Love it for those long days on the water.

For short trips, like a couple hours, I have a Simms headwaters waist pack. When there is no need for all that extra gear, I find the waist pack to be much better suited.

    For me anyway.

  7. I have an 8'6" 5wt that I use for dries on the Bow. Regardless of weather I am floating or walk and wade. I just prefer the feel of the 8'6" vs the 9'0".

My nymph rod is a 9'6" 6wt. I like the extra length for mending and roll casting. I have also recently discovered that it chucks streamers pretty damn well too.

May need to sell my 10'0" 7wt that I currently use for streamers......
