  1. I'm sure it is, like I said a variation. Wouldn't mind seeing it, but I doubt I'll be able to take in the clinic, leaving Alberta next week.
  2. maybe "Meathooks" would of been a better screen name for ya.
  3. Thanks, that helps alot Does a 12'-6" rod help out when trying to get above a trout.............
  4. is that nail polish, SJW
  5. The Palomar knot is on many web sites, its not much of a secret. Didn't know it was your knot thou Toolman, I've been using it for 20 years, must be a varition.
  6. Please excuse my ignorance, but. Has anyone tryed using a deer hair dubbing brush, trimmed on one side?, instead of spinning hair. Would this even work, would it be dense enough? I don't mined spinning, its the trimming I hate. Currently tying bombers.............its painful.
  7. Looks like a beauty of a trip.
  8. I haven't been fortunate to catch the variety of trout that most of you guys have, but I think you'll find the sea run variety will give you more of a fight. In my experience, sea run brown & brookies fight better than their freshwater counterpart so long they are fresh from the SW.
  9. Damn Dryfly, now you got me hungry for fish cakes.................decent grub at that place.
  10. Thanks Brownstone
  11. Thanks, didn't know that. stubs would be the best description i guess. Not sure what to call it, but the long thin portion of the fin was missing or not developed what so ever. Last year stock (I'm guessing 12-16") seem ok, but the recently abuntant 8"ers, have the problems.
  12. The last couple of evenings I noticed that a high percentage of small (8-10")stocked rainbows had either one or both pec fins missing. I landed about 20 fish in this range over the last two nights and about four or five of them had either one or both fins missing. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this in other stocked potholes, is it disease or are bigger fish causing this problem. Sorry I don't have photos, will be sure to get one if I run into this again.
  13. Wish I had more time before I head home, I would love to do something like that. 3 of the past 4 years autumn sex has put a damper on my summer fishing...............I need to make a note.
  14. Currently at the Opti/Nexen Site................get my freedom papers on the 27th.
  15. Yes, they all talk like Arnold.
  16. thats more like it sjw.................lol
  17. Big Trout. But I would think bigger have been caught in NS, Sea runs have been taken in excess of 30 lbs from other Atlantic waters.
  18. Thats gonna rub salt into alot of wounds.
  19. even my dad's jokes aren't that bad......never thought I would say that
  20. I guess the one that stands out the most was an all day hike and fish trip that we went on when I was about 10. We walked into a pond over a couple ridges along wood roads belonging to locals. With the fishing not being that good we traveled along a brook that exited the pond, nothing specially until it dropped down into a gorge that was about 50 feet or so deep and a couple hundy wide. I still remember that waterfall and the nice little pool we had a boil-up (Baloney, beans and a cup of tea that never tasted so good) next to and fished for hours. We followed that brook for miles, through thick alder beds and caught a few more muds along the way. We finally crossed another wood road when the land leveled out and started the hike back over the rigid. I was so tired, legs felted that they were anchored to the ground and Dad joking around putting weight of my shoulders by leaning on me. After breaking out on the main road thru the community we dropped in to the nearest house and called mom to come pick us up, there was no way I could walk the 10km back to our house. That was the best nights sleep I think I every had. We were spose to go home this summer to fish that same stretch, but it looks like it will have to wait another year.
