I second the post from FishFreak. MEC sells one called the Petzl Tactikka plus for $40. it has a Red lens that flips over the light. Much easier on the eyes, still allows you to see, yet does not attract every caddis and mosquito within 2 miles to your head, which beleive me, can be very annoying.

Awsome candid Shot! -
1. I prefer Uboat styles over float tubes. It is nice to have the open front and your not hangin there by your nads. 2. I would recommend Neoprean waders over breathables for the water this time of year. but as stated, breathables work, just may be a bit chilly. I find my knees get all seizy from the cold water wrapped around them. 3. A word of caution. Do not travel with an inflated float tube. Changes in elevation can mean an explosion. IE. if you left Vancouver with an inflated Tube, as you gained elevation toward merrit, the atmospheric pressure lessens as you climb meaning the air inside the tube is under less pressure and will expand. I have heard of tubes exploding this way. 4. I have used all types of fins and would Highly reccomend FORCE FIN as the shape allows it to travel backward through the water easier setting you up for the kick stroke. Life jacket would be good piece of mind. I dont use one but think about it every time I am out. even in my pontoon boat. Ideally I would like a CO2 model as they are very low profile when not required. Check out a pawnshop to look for a cheap life jacket maybe?

Bc Trip Report

4wt rods, and a gradient like you showed in photo 4 = Fun Fishing! That place looks beautiful and im shocked at the number of fish stacked up. I too have a tough time with the classified waters for Non BC residents. I can see for out of country, but not for canadian citizens. I lived in BC for most my life, and now that I live here I get penalized? Its a tough one to swallow. Well Looks like my attention will be absent from work for the remainder of the day. My boss thanks you! -
Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. Spencer

I plan on pontoonin tomorrow from fish creek to Policemans. as a hardened walk and wader, I will most likely be pulling out to fish quite a bit. Any estimates of the float time? Also, I have only been once before, Is Mckinnon visible from the river? Thanks a bunch

Had these two prints on the hood of my GMC Safari van this weekend whilst camped up High in the hills between Invermere and Cranbrook. Now I dont really think a human couldve made them unless they were trying too do so on purpose. Prints are about the size of my hand as if it were in a Tiger Style ninja kung fu grip, wtf? (knuckles bent but not full fist). So anybody out there able to identify if these may have been an animal? looks to be both the same hand or paw. And as though something went up with the front paw on the hood to look in the front window. As Bubbles would say, "might be samshqwuatch!"

1991 went to Western Washington Universtiy in Bellingham to see Mudhoney play. After the opening act when Mudhoney was supposed to come out, these three other dudes roll onto stage. One of them is like 8 feet tall and we realized that Nirvana had shown up just for fun. They played for 45 mins or so and then destroyed every istrument on the stage, It was friggen insane. Keep in mind this was just as Teen spirit had come out and they were blowing up big time. after the mess was cleaned up, Mudhoney came out for an entire set. The whole thing left this late teenager awestruck and only cost $4. ACDC second row at GM place was quite crazy as well. NOFX and Helmet at Commodore Ballroom was intense. Bringing back some good memories yet frustrating cause the memories are quite faded at the same time Beastie Boys, Chilli Peppers, Fishbone, Supersucker, Reverend Horton Heat, Rocket from the Crypt. Man those was some fun times. -

Dude, you nailed it. I live for this situation on the Bow. The last time it happened to me in late may or June, I got a real monster in the exact fashion you describe. after stopping the intial run just into the backing, I dropped my rod to the side and started my pressure pull to get her to come back to shore. The line went slack and I thought he snapped the leader. I got my line in only to notice she straightened the hook on my cdc caddis right out. Heartbroken, I took a couple breaths to lose the butterflies, looked around, realized I did everything I could to turn her to avoid 300 yards of running at the big bend of rapids and realized Ill just have to catch her another night. Got to love it! Great post Toolman.
