  1. You make me want to have kids so I can have another fishing buddy. Don't teach her to quick...I don't need to be schooled on the water by a nine-year old girl!!! Good on ya. Mike
  2. Quick question. Are the waders your talking about the XS-Pro Breathable waders? Thanks Mike
  3. Five years back I also was up at Harrison and spent a day fishing the Fraser...my favorite trip yet! Lots of Coho and one spring that nearly pulled me out of the boat. Can't wait to make it back there some time. mkm
  4. Quick question. I have a pair of their waders...which I might add have been awesome. However, the heels on the foot have developed small holes from walking. Would this be covered under warranty? Thanks, Mike
  5. Hey All, I have been using the fishpond vest all last season. I bought a 2L bladder from mec and it works awesome. Rarely do I fill it up entirely as a full bladder becomes bulky especially when you need to throw other stuff in the back of the vest. Before I used the bladder i found I always didn't drink enough water and by the end of the day i was dehydrated and had a head ache. Now that I have the hydration stuff down I need to find a solution to forgetting to put sun screen on! Mike
  6. Coming from a guy who tangles lots I have been tought one thing...if you tangle always tell yourself first "its never as bad as it looks". This seems to make taking the tangle out easy. Otherwise I get frustrated and this leads to more tangles. Good luck, you may see me on the river sometime...I'm the one talking to myself while taking the tangle out! Mike
  7. Hey, Just a quick note. Fished the crow today and it was tough fishin to say the least. The water is up a bit but only had about 16" visability at best and 8" at worst. I was there 2 weeks ago and the fishing was amazing but today only had 1 to hand and a few others on the line. All fish were close to shore. I was using hairs ear and pheasant tail and bouncing it off the bottom. Found some really big golden stones under the rocks but fish were not taking. I should also note I am no expert on the crow (or elsewhere) as I have only been there twice...so take my advice with a grain of salt! Good Luck
  8. Hey Beedhead, It was awesome running into you on saturday. The fly your buddy gave me caught a fish right after you guys moved on. You guys were right...the walk back along the tracks was miserable. MKM
  9. I second birchy. I just bought this rod and it is has been awesome for me. However, it is great for the Bow but might be a little stiff (fast action) for some smaller water. Lots of reviews on this rod say its comparable to rods that you will pay $200-$400 more for. Plus its TFO which means the warranty is kick ass, especially if you will be around Calgary (take a busted rod straight to the factory and get a replacement peiece immeidately). Try it out and see if its for you. Mike
  10. Just bought the 5wt TFO Axiom yesterday. Spent the day on the bow with it and loved it. Its a fast action rod which forces me to work on my technique. By the end of the day I was casting a good 20 feet of line more then with my old cheap TFO...that doesn't probably say much about my casting! The rod responds unbelievably to doube hauling and shoots line really fast. Bought it at Russell Sports...10% off all rods right now! To make it even sweater I had the best day i have ever had on the bow...9 fish - 7 to hand - 5 over 20" - biggest was a gorgous 22" brown. I thought no one that has fished with me would believe it so I have pics of a 4 of the fish over 20". I'll try posting when I get my pics loaded. mkm
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I was going to head down on my own tomorrow and explore but it doesn't sound worth it. Guess I had better find another spot. Mike
  12. Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone knows how open the river is past policemans flats? Thanks
  13. I fished a few of the flies from Icky last year and they were comparable to the ones I usually buy for tripple the cost. One of the guys I fish with also uses them and seems to have great luck with them on all waters. I am about to restock my box for the season and wouldn't consider anything but icky...good selection, great price, quick delivery. mkm
  14. Im on the National Luge Team. With the new Olympic venue opening in Whistler I will be spending lots of time here over the next two years...but summers will be spent on the Bow!
  15. Wasn't in Mexico unfortunitely but I did spend the first 2 months of winter in europe...its a tough life being an athlete!!! This sports stuff is really cutting into my fishing time! mike
  16. Awesome..thanks for the help. I will check out the whistler flyshop and see what they have t say. mike
  17. I am up in Whistler for the next month and was wondering if any of you know much about the fishing. Mike

Awesome pics!!! Were those all caught on the secret nymph? mkm
  20. Careful Toolman...Birchy might stand you up!!! Just kidding...I'm sure a little fresh air will make you forget all about this thread. mkm
  21. I am overwhelmed by the 4 pages of replies I found when I logged on today. It truely sucks that this thread went this way but on a positive note I am happy some people, other then the regular posters, got involved to put in their two cents. This site sometimes seems to only be for a limited number of members who know "the secret spot" rather than the 1275 members that make it worthwhile for companies to pay for advertising on it. But back to the real topic. As I was the one who made the initial post I think it is only fair that I do inform you guys that the matter has been resolved. Unfortunitely, it took the attention of posting to gain resolution but ultimately the guide did man up and apologized...also offering a free trip. I hope my buddies and I can take him up on it however I already called in one favor to get the day off for a guided fishing trip and its unlikely that I will be able to call in another favor any time soon to get out for a full day on the Bow. Thanks for all your posts and I hope we can all get back to fishing again. Gotta run out for some advil after reading all the virtual beatings that took place. mkm
  22. On last friday myself and another member were supposed to do a walk n wade with a private guide but to our disappointment he never showed. Having taken the day off and really anticipating a great day we both decided to sit and wait an hour just in case the guide had slept in. However, after numerous ignored phone calls/messages we finally assumed we had been stood up and headed to the river for what turned out to be a poor fishing day for us. The sad part of this story is that (1) we both took the day off, (2) had emailed confirmation of the date and time, (3) the guide never gave us a heads up that he couldn't make it, (4) still to this day he has not responded to multiple phone calls or emails. I'm not out to post names or muddy reputations but what do you guys think the best way to deal with this situation is? Thanks, mkm
  23. Headed out with PaleMorningDunce to Livingstone on Sunday. When we arrived it was freakin cold and the trout must have been in shock because they refused to move. We came across a pool which was holding 30+ trout (lots of large white fish and the rest were big cutts). Once the sun came out we began catching however it wasn't until around 1:30pm when the fish hit the surface. Most fish were caught on the ant or beatle but a stomach pump sample showed they were feeding on tiny green nymphs. The day was okay but it seems like the cold nights are really starting to slow the fishing down. Even at 5pm I struggled to hold a fish in the water for 30 seconds. Highlight of the day was having a big bull chase any cutt we had on the line (no luck hooking the bull with a streamer set-up). Here's one decent cutt from the day. mkm
  24. What type of camera are you using? thanks, mkm
