  1. Yes it is.. It's one of the worst things that can happen... My family were all scared.... we live SW calgary.. that weekend there was 100 break-ins..

We all live downtown in a nice condo, we'll be there 2 more months..

We think why we got broken into was it was dark, no lights on while we were away. been living there for many years and nothing has happened there..

    '

The police have not done a thing and they really can't. They are so over whelmed with all the crime in Calgray.. I emailed a member on this board to see if he can take my hard drive outta my computer was smashed he said he might beable to but the insureance ppl took care of it.

It smells still of gasoline here.. all the carpets are ripped out.

We don't want to move back here were all really scared..

We now have alarm systum here.

When I go out I look on the bottum of kids shoes..looking for green and orange spray paint ... I've not seen any ... If I did.. I may have to ask questions than hurt someone..

I would wonder Why.. we all still Wonder Why.. why. why. why why ... shaken me head.. Why.....

eveyone take care, becarful. and be safe we are now..

  2. If I had a tazer my place wouldn't of gotten vandlized, all my walls is spray painted lime green and bright orange, they poured gasoline everywhere on top of my things, everything i can sit on is cut into ribbions. all my fishen gear rots in gasoline. Thank-god I wasn't here or I would and my little dog would prob be dead for sure..

If I had a tazer, I would of tazered them but good..

I've looked on the net for a tazer. can buy on I see, but to get it to me is another story..

I would for sure put YES for the Tazers..

    Thank-you.

  3. Just a thought, but I think I'll wear my FFC hat for the Bow River cleanup. The times I have been out on the river this year, I haven't seen very many people wearing their gear. What are you saving it for? At least this way, the general public will see us as a concerned group of area Anglers looking after our river. What do you think?

Hi, Great idea.. oh man.....I wish I got the hat now....

  4. Hi here's some other great ways to use up that extra Vodka, besides making home made Kahlua,

    1. To remove a bandage painlessly,

    saturate the bandage with vodka.

    The stuff dissolves adhesive.

    2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a

trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking,

let set five minutes and wash clean.

The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew.

    3. To clean your eyeglasses,

simply wipe the lenses with a soft,

    clean cloth dampened with vodka.

The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs.

    4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting

your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka

disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.

    5. Spray vodka on wine stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry.

6 Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to

cleanse the skin and tighten pores.

    7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol

cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair,

and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.

    8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle with vodka and spray bees

    or wasps to kill them.

    9. Pour one-half cup vodka

and one-half cup water into a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for a

slushy, refreshing ice pack for aches,?

    pain or black eyes.

    10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar

    with freshly packed lavender flowers,

fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for

    three days.

Strain liquid through a coffee filter,

then apply the tincture to aches and pains.

    11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth

to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.

    12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.

    13. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.

    14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the

    urushiol oil from your skin.

    15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to

absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.

  5. Here's an old time tip that my Dad taught me. Be careful with this one, you need decent coordinationuse at your own risk. Hold the fly by the hook, touch the hook eye to your tongue. Put your tippet on you tongue and run it through the eye by "feel". I use this a lot after dark. Try it at home and see if it's for you. Important! do not swallow fly!!!

I also have a set of flip down magnifiers that I wear on my hat. Helps a lot.

Hi, That sounds like a good ol one.... I'll try that for sure.. I have cheater glasses I use them and my threader... waiting it out till the big 50 to get real glasses.....

  6. Great advice especially the going for lunch part.

i was at a fly shop the day after trying for some help and he told me some of the same things you mentioned - especailly the small fly part.

I laughed when he showed me some of the flies he recommended 'cause I would spend most of the day trying to get the line through the eye - you would think there must be an easier way to tie small flies onto your line

especially as the numbers of fly fisher folk age and our eyesight gets a tad poorer - where are the genuises that find a solution to things like this?

how about selling pretied flies for some of us?

Hi, Get a do-dad at Russles, it's called a 20/20 Magnetic Tippet Threader, I love mine.

  7. This should be the general rule for lady anglers as well :angel:smail:

Hi, Now I'm looking for waders for summer wading.. good idea to have them I see all your points, all good imput. Thank-you!

I do alot of hiking to the water, seems to be that way. I need to get light weight breathables waders, I'm looking on the interent there's some chest waders with booties, wear boots over top of the booties. Going to Fish Tails would be the best place to get these, but they don't have many outtfits for woman, I've purchaced boots from Fish Tales mens, they are big for my feet, work ok, but makes my hiking a heavy load to carry up and out..

    Thanks..

  8. You are absolutely right! My hands are wickedly dry and gross for 2 days after I fish the Bow. And I"m sure I've done all of the above. But I've also stood in the Bow in a pair of Columbia pants figuring I was OK cuz I was covered up, but then wondered why the scratch on my leg that was almost healed got mildly infected a day later. Coincidence? Me thinks not. All the crap that goes into that river - I won't be taking that chance again - it's waders for me. And it gave my old dog a wicked rash whenever he swam in it too. But he didn't care as much as I do LOL

Hi, Good point to all, defintiy don't shave your legs than go wet waden...

  9. Ewwww.....even at 35 degrees on an August day, I would NEVER wet wade the Bow. Maybe in Canmore, but definitely not below the city (i.e. the POO plant). There's a reason you see most anglers in waders even if they're naked from the waist up MAX. :D

Hi, I see your point.. do you mean you fly fish with rubber goves! Evertime your fingers touch your line you sometime touch your face, lips, eyes with wet fingers.... Now that's pretty GROSS!

  10. Hi, My wading soaks are smelly.. What is the best way to get that smell out.... Has anyone had this happen to them and what have they done...

    Thank-you.

The latest I've read on this subject is........ wash your booties or your feet.. in Vodka.... ya no kidding.... neat-o..... I've not tried it, but what the hell!!!!

  11. I've noticed lately that when I get done with my fishing on the Bow, or anywhere else for that matter, that my elbow has some stiffness in it. I did have it before when I very first started, but thought that it was just because my arm wasn't used to the motion of fly casting. After my last outing, which was last Thursday morning, my arm hasn't stopped aching. Is there such a thing as Fly Fisher's Elbow? I would think this is what Tennis Elbow feels like, but I don't play tennis.

Hi, Wow, you can get all the toys, spend tons of mula, go to physco all you like, I take ginger root capsuals, and works well too, look on the interent what Honey and Cinnamon will do, I've been taking it for 3 months now I like what it's doing.. I'm losing weight, takes most of my pains away, my job is very intense, 14 hour days I use every muscle in my body pretty much and I'm not a young spring chick... my two cents worth..

Hi I had the same thing last summer when I first started, I was putting to much force in my castings when I got better at my castings the pain went away.. also could be your getting older! Try ginger root capsules they work with pain take with food....

But the elbow and less force will be good as gold..your over doing it.. I did...
