  1. yesterday, had nothing better to do...so...took a walk in the city..saw this...you all seem to profess to be pros, so tell me what specie is this......................................Wolfie...now this pic may not be perfect, however, you all should be able to tell....NO?

That aint no whitefish. sheshh.. I would say a Bull Trout... & some wicked side affects from the meth labs...

  2. Just tied these up tonight. Pretty standard recipe, with a glass bead and copper wire. This one was 18 gauge red copper wire that I bought from Michael's. The skinnier wire is easier to work with though. After about 5, you get on a roll and can make them pretty quickly.

Hi the worms here you tied.... did you by chance wrap thread on first then wrapped the wire on? thanks for your post.. these look great...

  3. Without giving any credibility to my questioning or statements in this thread , I've been reading a fair number of threads which have contained rather interesting posts, however, the majority of them have an underlined hostility to them..ppl coming into threads with a nasty taste in their mouths, maybe not knowning to themselves, but it comes out that way..

..Now comes my Theory..so read it several times if you must but try and understand my words so that I don't have to explain it all over again, but in a different fashion...

..in the last 5 years of living in this city, a certain problem has escalated into a very serious situation, which has been ignored for other reasons one way or the other. Now I'm talking about the numerous houses that have been turned into drug houses..be it meth, or crack, I'm using these two chemicals to prove my point. Here you have these houses, [and most are known by ur cities finest] just a cookin up a pale yellow cloud over Calgary, because these two drugs need to be cooked to be created.

..Where does all that cooking chemicals, go to.."when water boils it is turned into vapors"..so does the excess of the chemicals which is in it's process of producing the 'rocks'..

..Now we here on this board may or may not know what these drugs do to the personality of the user, both changes the personality of the person, making them more aggressive as more is consumed by them..their way of thinking towards others, the way things are construed by them [paranoia sets in], so with this knowledge now on how it affects ppl who takes these drugs..What is happening to the rest of the ppl in this city who is exposed to the "vapors" that have been dispersed during the cooking process of creating these chemicals, which sits over this city, inhaled by the ppl who live here on a daily bases, their personality , unknowingly are changing as well..think about ppl..really.. think of what I wrote.. ..

..Knowledge is a deadly weapon , but being kept in a cloud of No knowledge , can also be 'deadly'..................Wolfie

    Wolfie...... I agree with you~

I have noticed the same thing.. today even myself.. I felt full of something.. not in a good way... I gave myself a good talking to! There is something in the air..... for sure, it's out there for along time I've noticed and by some of the comment on this board... myself..

I've lived in the city myself for 5 years.... If I could I would move away.. far away in the hills... that would be a dream come true..

    Thanks for noticing....

    Thanks, This will be helpful.

  5. Hmmm...seems the right to free speech might be in jeopardy here. Did it hit a little close to home perhaps?

While I admit saying xyz store "sucks" is a pretty general statement, I should think we have the right to express our displeasure if we've had a bad experience somewhere. In fact, I think if you read this entire thread, you may find that exact thing. Is this forum not an extension of the whole "word of mouth" system we all rely on so heavily? Why would we keep a negative experience to ourselves then? If this were the case, should we not keep all our opinions to ourselves?

Perhaps the "young man" could edit his statement to explain why he feels this way but I don't think there is anything wrong with expressing one's opinion, positive or negative.

To quote a long-forgotten songwriter... "One looked like a can full of worms, the other looked like malaria germs" . Sort of what you might be opening up....

I could give a rats @ss, if you got slammed from slander... to tell you the truth.. so have fun~ N-joy your time at it. and thanks for all your replies..

  6. They can get "out of tune" it is mostly sorry for this but "dirty" tap it on your Palm, and no eating while playing.. I have taken a couple of mine apart gently mine you and you would not believe the stuff that get in there..

Acoustics has a big effect on the sound you get also of course.. like I said play gently and one of the big things is relax relax relax..

If you can find this one it is great..

The Natural Blues and Country Western Harmonica by Jon Gindick.. very good for starting out..

I play like a hippo farting , loud and bad, but like you I keep trying.. and it will get better..

Hi FFF, ok. I was wondering about that.. I did that smack it in my hand a few times. I know at first when ever I ate something I thought.. oh man I can't do that, I have to make sure my mouth is empty no crumbs in it at all....

I was down at the River today, took my harp and did some great fishing.. A freind this weekend let me use his line and reel.. with my rod, my rod is soft but his line worked great for me today, better then the weekend..

My playing down at the river again sounded wonderful~ and home well...... I've cleaned it more, could be the wind and the sound of the river makes the harp work great, and all the fresh air to boot..

I have the book Blues Harmonica for begginers, by William Lee Johnson.

The fellow on the net the link you sent here, I've been taking his Utube lessons.. he's played in his car so have I... great acoustics in my car, with the padded roof and what not....

K thanks again. sure is nice out today, great day for playing my harp and fishing in the Elbow....

  7. Hi, Thanks FFFW, Your infomation will come handy. I am getting better from my last post here, But.. when I am down at the river playing.. I sound pretty good... but last night in my room, I sucked, I think something is wrong with my harp! It sounded out of tune..... is that possible? ha...

    I have a few songs, I have the numbers written down in my book, such as: You are my sunshine, 3 4 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 4 4 4 -4 ect.. the - sign is blow.

Down in the Valley, How Great Thou Art, is harder with the higher notes, I want to play more blues.... but that'll come later. I tried the open mouth over my harp it did sound better, but you know... it'll take practice.. which I am N-joying it..

    Thank-you... for adding your info.

  8. Hi, The first time I was in Fish Tales.. I was so thankful they never came up to me and bugged me.. ((( Can I help you )))~ They saw me.they were pleasent with me and with smiles. , I didn't know a thing about fly fishing. I walked around and looked, picked up so many things. I walked out.my head was full of infomation. The next time I was in the shop, I was greeted, I wanted help then. I go to Fish Tales now for my fly fishing wants and needs. Why~ for the conversation, for the wisedom in there.. I always walk out with something I can use.. that's the best part.. and there's never any PRESSURE to buy a thing there... that's the best part as for a woman that hates shopping.. I love going in there..

  9. Hi Done that a few times, I put my rod between the front seats reel on the floor mat and tip of my rod at the back that seems to work for me, but I don't do that everytime only if I am going to drive just .... over there... I wish it only took me 2 min to set up> good job.. there.

  10. In my search for better methods and tricks for fly fishing. I came across this neat little indicator by Rudi Ferris and absolutely love it. Thought I would share it with you all.

Just take a empty ink tube out of a ballpoint pen and cut it into (1to3mm) long pieces, longer will provide more friction on your leader to hold it in place better. You can use different sizes of tubes for bigger or smaller indicators.

Attaching the yarn is a piece of cake.

    · Double the nylon and feed on a ring.

    · Slide the ring down to open a large loop above it.

    · Feed the yarn into the loop and slide the ring hard up against it.

    · Now pull both ends of the nylon in opposite directions.

    · If the correct thickness of yarn has been selected the ring will jump up and hold fast under tension.

    · Try pulling the indicator up and down to see if it will stay put while you are casting.

    · If not wrap the nylon one more time over the yarn before you pull the ring in place. It will hold really well.

It takes a bit of playing with them to select the right amount of yarn (or whatever you choose to use) for different size rings. After you play with it a little bit it gets a little easier to judge the amount you need. To much and the yarn won't snap into place, to little it just won't hold. It dosen't kink up your leader either and is very easy to adjust depth and take on and off as the situations change.

Give it a try and hope you like it.

Hi Oh wow, thank-you... this looks so cool.. I'm going to give it a try...

  11. I noticed while fishing on Monday that a certain colour was highly visible to the naked eye..and so hopefully my theory may work in luring a Bull to my camera...................here are my latest streamers. All comments will be taken in................Wolfie
