You don't wanna know how much I spend on materials hooks and vices. The FT Bible is a good one to start out on though. It has a nice selection of nymphs and streamers. Keep in mind it's written by a UK angler, so a lot of the pattern have a bit of a UK bias to them. They will still most definitely work here though. Welcome to the dark corner of fly fishing.

It's almost time for the 2007-2008 NHL season to begin. If your interested in starting a pool of some sort, let me know. If we get some interest in this, I'll start up a fantasy league or pool. Last year we had 10 people take part, and we'd love to see more get involved. The pool is for both the Fly Fish Calgary and the Fly Angler sites. We will have a side bet of flies for those who want to. Just tie a dozen flies, your choice of patterns, and the top finisher will get 50% of the flies and the second spot will receive 30% and the 3rd spot will get 20%.( this may change depending on the interest it gets) This is optional, but if you don't submit flies, you won't be eligible to receive them either. I will cover the set-up fee for the pool, but if you wish to help out with the cost, or send a extra fly or 2 it is appreciated. I will also take any donations of flies for the Casting For Recovery program. I will send you a PM with the details for logging into the site that is hosting the pool. You will be able to choose 15 players in any combination you wish. Thanks for all the votes so far. So Dave, How long are you wanting to let this go on.... You get to pick the next subject. I think that not saying whose is whose is a good idea, but some of you will recognize the personal styles. Also as setting them on similar backgrounds would help make thing a bit more fair.

I love the beadhead. It looks like a sweet pattern. It would slay them out at Muir this time of year.

It's a perfect size. They do get ugly when they grow up. Little ones look great.

Hmmmmm...... Interesting. Well, I've been done for a few days now. I was waiting for you to post your bad boy. This one is also unnamed. I used a sealfur head to mimic the girl's black curly hair. I made a body with 4 ribs. Red silk flanked by gold oval tinsel with a reverse flat gold tinsel. Nice job Dave. We will have to have another round.

Just mark the contents as fishing supplies rather than "Feathers" or "Animal parts". If you have a lot of stuff, break it down into a few boxes.

I leave most of my gear in the trunk. I keep a 4 piece in there. If I want to use a 2 piece I just bring it, as it doesn't fit away out of site. I don't keep my waders and boot in there though, and forgot to bring them on the last trip...

That looks great. I like the glow beads as well. As long as that hackle is soft, it will flow back when it is in the water and shouldn't really interfere too much with the hook. Now go fish it.

i did up a quick one, but I didn't like it too much. I'm out of practice on the big streamers. I'll be retying it.
