Guest Jeremie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 that looks like it could be a killer stonefly pattern! Nice work Quote
Wolfie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 hey that's neat , I'm a big fan of foam bugs...does the top piece of foam [representing the upper wing], lift up when u take ur finger off of it ..or..have u tied it down so not to lift?.............Wolfie Quote
bhurt Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 That looks like a pattern that could be very effective, cause its early and I am at work, what size is it, my brain just isn't working right now. Quote
TheMuddler Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 Thanks, I hope it can produce. The wing is actually glued down, I was thinking about adding some elk hair instead of just a foam wing maybe ill do that on the next one. It's tied on a size 8. Quote

It's tied on a size 8. if you add the hair...use the foam to hold the hair from popping up all over the place...that works great...look here it will help..Wolfie .................................. http://hopperjuan.blogspot.com/2009/05/hopper-juan-tying-steps.html Quote
Fisherwoman Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Wolfie, Thanks for that link. Where would I get a hopper body cutter? I think I can managae making this hopper. This one is cute~ Quote
hopdrop Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 The wing is actually glued down, I was thinking about adding some elk hair instead of just a foam wing I suggest the beefer rubber legs. I find that if you use the finer legs for more action, they get hung up in the elk hair. Quote

This one is cute~ Well..M'Lady..first off you can get away of Not using a 'body cutter', by just using 1/4" strip of colour foam of ur choice, then after u are finished creating, you can trim the back/front with a scissor, as to shape the ends. ..but..if you do want a variety of body cutters, salt water and fresh, then my suggestion is 'FishTales', that is where I found the most variety of them.............................Wolfie Quote
