fishfreak Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Just tied these up tonight. Pretty standard recipe, with a glass bead and copper wire. This one was 18 gauge red copper wire that I bought from Michael's. The skinnier wire is easier to work with though. After about 5, you get on a roll and can make them pretty quickly. Quote
admin Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Looking good. you might want to take a pair of flat pliers and pinch the ends. A couple look like they could damage tippet. I've got a bunch of that wire, I might tie err wind a few up. Quote
fishfreak Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Yeah, I had a tough time pinching those ends. Thanks for noticing, I'll have to find them and pinch them back. 18 gauge is too thick to be working with, especially at the ends. Quote
troutlover Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 i also like to tie of at the top of the wire with some red thread to stop the wire from sliding down... ummm looks like you have worms. Quote

Hi the worms here you tied.... did you by chance wrap thread on first then wrapped the wire on? thanks for your post.. these look great... Quote
Conor Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 FW- No thread on those. Put the hook in the vise, hold the wire with your left hand and wrap with your right. Head cement or superglue on either end after completed will help hold the wire in place. Quote
Ulmo Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 great looking worms! just wondering what size hooks you used and which sizes do you prefer? Quote
Travelmate Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Good looking worm pattern, simple but effective...I have had decent luck with black ones as well tied the same way, sometimes with a floss red tail.. cheers, tm Quote
