SilverDoctor Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Every now and again I read this little story, Can't remember where I got it or who wrote it. But I like just it. ---THE YOUNG MAN WAITED FOR HIS INFANT SON TO FALL ASLEEP SO HE COULD GO FISHING AGAIN. HE HAD BROUGHT HIS YOUNG FAMILY TO THE LAKE, CAUGHT HIS FIRST RAINBOW THAT MORNING AND WAS ANXIOUS TO PURSUE A SECOND. HE WAITED AND THOUGHT OF THE POST-WAR TEARDROP TRAILER HE WAS BUILDING AT HOME. WHEN IT WAS COMPLETE, THERE WOULD BE MORE HOLIDAYS WITH HIS YOUNG FAMILY, FISHING AND EXPLORING. THE BOY’S EYES CLOSED AND HE DRIFTED OFF, UNAWARE THAT A LARGE CIRCLE HAD JUST OPENED. IT IS A CIRCLE OF STEWARDSHIP, BASED ON HOPE RATHER THAN EXPECTATION. YOU MAKE TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY EARLY IN LIFE, HOPING THEY WILL HAVE TIME FOR YOU LATER ON..................... THE YOUNGER MAN WAS GETTING IMPATIENT AS HIS FATHER SLOWLY ATE HIS LUNCH. HE COULD SEE A RISE ON THE LAKE AND IT DEFIED CONVENTIONAL WISDOM. HE WOULD LIKE TO GET OUT AND FIND OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING, BUT HIS FATHER WANTED TO GO DOWN TO THE LODGE, DRINK COFFEE AND TALK TO RETURNING FISHERMEN. IF HE DIDN’T GET OUT AND TALK TO PEOPLE, PARTS OF HIS THOUGHT PROCESS WOULD BE LOST. THE YOUNGER MAN RELAXED AND WAITED. THERE WOULD BE TIME TO FISH AFTER SUPPER. THE OLDER MAN TOOK A LEISURELY BITE OF HIS BREAD AND WONDERED WHY HIS SON WAS NOT CHECKING OUT THIS UNUSUAL RISE. HE WAS UNAWARE THAT THE CIRCLE HAD JUST CLOSED................ Don't forget to smell the roses and enjoy the moment. Moments disappear so quickly. Quote
ACT Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Good stuff Silverdoctor. Seems like only yesterday I could cradle both my kids...one on each arm. Now they are in their 20's and a man really does wonder where the time and moments have gone. Quote
