kungfool Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Hey, have a question for you pros out there. I was camping near the Dickson trout pond this weekend and managed to float the pond for a few hours. I noticed some strange bumps on quite a few small trout. They were simply bumps with no strange color or anything. Any idea what this could be? Some sort of parasite perhaps? The bumps usually only appeared on the smaller fish (under 10 inches) while the bigger ones seemed to be clean. Quote
OneMoreLastCast Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 How big were the bumps? It could be a variety of parasites, (I hope not). I've seen parasite bumps/lumps on Summer Steelhead fresh from the ocean, but not on our trout here in alberta. Hopefully someone has an answer. Either way, I'd be sticking the waders in some water and bleach just in case. Quote
maxwell Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 ive seen a few weird parasites on some fish in a few lakes ive fished.... Quote
Guest rusty Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 The fish at BH get small black bumps on them in the summer - I've been told that they're parasites. Quote
monger Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Black spot (with bump) is from trematode larvae. Quote
kungfool Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 How big were the bumps? It could be a variety of parasites, (I hope not). The bumps where probably 4 or 5 millimeters high and around 1 centimeter in diameter. I saw several fish in there last year with the odd bump but this year it seem many of the smaller ones have them.
