headscan Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I have two leaders sitting here, both 2x and both about the same length. One is mono and the other fluorocarbon but I can't remember which is which. I think the one has a little more stretch to it and I'm guessing that's the mono but I'm not sure. Anyone have a more certain way to tell them apart? Quote
Tungsten Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 On spools i can tell the difference in taste, not sure about complete leaders. Quote
headscan Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Heh, considering both leaders have seen a good amount of use including downstream of a certain spot in FC I'm reluctant to taste them. They'd probably both taste like the same sewage... Quote

thefisherking Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 the floro leader has a higher density so it sinks faster than mono. Quote
bhurt Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Mark, try throwen them in the sink at the same time and the one that sinks fast I would guess to be the floro Quote
Brownstone Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 trim a small bit off the end of each leader, fluor will be noticeably harder. Quote
headscan Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 trim a small bit off the end of each leader, fluor will be noticeably harder. Yup, super easy. The fluoro made an audible snip like clipping nails and the mono just sort of sliced. Turns out I was right about the one with more stretch being the mono. Thanks! Quote
