Lundvike Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 My own take on the Olive Circus Peanut Saw something similar to this when I was looking at Kelly Galloup's site. Fly of the Month - The Slide Inn So which hook do I cut the point off? Just wondering what peoples opinions of this are. I noticed there is no point on the trailer in the picture on the link above. Din Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 nice tie! that in white is killer for pike. my preference is to cut the front hook off. EDIT: I may have them mixed up, but this is the fly I said in white is great for pike... http://www.rainysflies.com/pages/detail.as...Bottom's-Up Quote
sirocco Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 The bottoms up uses foam on the back hook to give it a jigging action. The circus peanut is a little different. Kelly cuts the rear hook off. Nice tie man! Quote
SteveM Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I would leave both hooks on, plus tie in a small treble trailer;&,I'd soak it in Rotenone! Nice tie;I'll take a dozen in various sizes & colors, please... Quote
calkid75 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Kelly cuts off the trailer as he says predatory trout try to eat their prey head first. Most of his patterns gradiuated from a large standard streamer to a similar sized articulated with smaller hooks. This added much more action as well as reduced the leverage a large fish could put on the hook. Less bent hooks and lost fish supposedly. I have been trying to get as much info on his streamers and his method of fishing them. His streamers look deadly. Guy Quote
