Alinden Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Since I am dreaming about spring in this freezing weather, I was wondering where people might be going for the May long Weekend. I am also looking for suggestion of where one might be able to go and do some moving water fishing? As far as I can tell most of the rivers are closed in Alberta that weekend. I have no problems driving 5 or so hours from Calgary, so driving to BC us fine. Suggestions please. Quote
jack Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I just checked the "open" BC rivers that are closest to Calgary and it looks like all of them would be in the early stages of spring freshet by the third week in May. BUT, Vic Day is early this year(18th) so you just might get away with the N. Thompson, from Blue River, South to Avola. Lots of access from the highway and side roads. As time gets closer, just keep an eye on this website: http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/hydroPortfolio.asp North Thompson at Birch Island is the station to pay attention to. j Quote
Golfman09 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Cypress Hills on the Sask side.......should be fun.....haven't fished over there at all so it should be fun to check it out. I love exploring the little creeks to see what can be found. Quote
