Hey everyone, just looking for a few opinions on rain jackets. I'm looking to spend about $150-175 tops, can anyone reccomend any brands? or jackets they have and like/dislike? ;)

Thanks for any opinions!

edit: forgot to say, if you can purchase the jacket in Calgary..all the better!

Hi Kyle,

William Joseph makes a great rain jacket that's light and packs down to almost nothing, Fishtales sells them, when I bought mine it was under 100 bucks I believe. I also have a Cloudveil jacket that I love that you can also get from Fishtales and Wholesale sports, (Fishtales is cheaper).

You may want to check the Buy/Sell at www.fishbc.com, a couple of days ago the ex-Simms rep posted the last of his sample gear including a large Freestone rain jacket for $125.00. I bought a Simms super light jacket from him and he didn't charge me shipping.

I like the old school yellow or green rain jackets with a hood... with a set of waders you are pretty much water proof except for the wrists... but I guess it doesn't rain so much here so you could probably get away with goretex or something.

I think most of their Pati stuff is 50% but just give Brent or Kevin a call (and make sure you ask him about my % of the commission :P ) NOt sure if it's listed on the website - I know Brent was working on that recently...

Also Patagonia website had them on sale, as well!

*Edit* Just checked the BRTF website and they list "select" Deep Wading Jackets @ 50% off! ALso checked the patagonia website and they only have smalls & larges left for US$120 - if you have someone in the US you can send it to, they can intern send it "as a gift" to you... Or you can just pay the gst, duty & brokerage...

Check out MEC.

I have a gortex rain jacket from them that was about $100 and is bombproof. I have probably over 300 wears on it and it is still in new condition. Great warrantee service, too.

Hello

I've been using K-way for years. They're very light and fold up to the size of a grapefruit. Very waterproof up to a point, then they are quite clingy. Not too expensive.

Cheers
