Tie1on24 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Hi everyone I am going to be heading down to Denver next week on business and am hoping to get some fishing done while i was out there. I have done some research and have come up with such rivers as the South Platte, Williams Fork, and the Colorado. Does anyone have any experience with these rivers or have any other recomendations. Your help is greatly appreciated. Tight Lines Quote
angler Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Cheesman canyon below Cheesman dam about 45 min from Denver. Fished it once a few years ago for about 1/2 day. Fun stuff - only one good hit which immediately stripped off my indicator and snapping the leader. Interesting water. Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 The monstewr on the cover of flyfisherman mag this month (or was it last month) was from the S Platte.... might want to check into it... I don't know anything about it but.... dang that's a big fish Quote
fishinmagician Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Ask at the fly shops about the Yampa and the Frying Pan rivers. There are 2 Orvis stores in Denver as well as numerous other excellent fly shops. Check the phone book. Quote
Tie1on24 Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 Great, thanks guys! I actually ran into a guy on the bow today from around the denver area and he had mentioned the frying pan as well. I will do some poking around in some of the local fly shops. Looking forward to wetting the line in some unchartered territory! Quote
