jcochrane Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Has anyone fly fished in Lake Athabasca? I'm headed up there in the middle of May and I'm looking to start my research now. I'll be in the town of Fort Chipewyan which is on the Alberta side at the southwestern end of the lake. It's near the delta I believe. I have one full day to fish with evenings and afternoons thrown in as well. I don't really want to pay huge money for a charter, but if it was worth it I would. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated. Cheers Quote
trailhead Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Lots of pike and lakers in there. If you want to flyfish for something smaller find a small creek and try dark flies for grayling. Oh and make sure to have lots of insect repellant the blackflies and mosquitos can be unbelievable. Quote
