  1. My brother, wife and I did a day of fishing out of Barra de Navidad in early January. This is a small fishing village about 5 hours south of PV. We had an epic day. Fishing is only good in the morning hours: 6:30am - 11am. There were no tuna around when we there, instead we fished for Dorado aka mahi mahi. Which is a great game fish and even better eating. We had three dorado and one spanish mackerel in a morning of fishing. All the Dorado were over 20 lbs with the biggest being 25. The spanish mackerel was small, but made for amazing ceviche. The Dorado was great on the bbq. The trip cost 2000 pesos with an extra 500 in tip. We had the boat to ourselves and the guide was a great guy. Dorado fishing is pretty cool. The trolling speed is quite fast and the line is not far below the surface. And for all those salmon fisherman, you use hoochies to catch 'em. Arrange the price before hand, make sure you factor in a generous tip if the guide is good. One good thing is that fishing is a universal language. Enjoy it!!
  2. Thanks for the info Trailhead. I'll let you know how it goes.
  3. Has anyone fly fished in Lake Athabasca? I'm headed up there in the middle of May and I'm looking to start my research now. I'll be in the town of Fort Chipewyan which is on the Alberta side at the southwestern end of the lake. It's near the delta I believe. I have one full day to fish with evenings and afternoons thrown in as well. I don't really want to pay huge money for a charter, but if it was worth it I would. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated. Cheers
  4. Thanks DBT! I'm going to tie up a bunch of these......
  5. I'd love to see Hossa throw on a Nucks jersey. But I don't see the Nucks doing much or the Flames, though Iron Mike might look for Jokinen. I could see Sundin heading to the Ducks, for their pick(s). That way Burke has got his picks when he takes over as GM next year. We all know Burke loves that and he'll love the spotlight he'll receive when rolls into the T-Dot.
  6. They look good Brent. I'd palmer some more Pink in there though. But I don't know much. From the sounds of the run right now, you guys should have some luck.
  7. I'll throw one out there too. Matt King showed me how to tie this stonefly just before Christmas. I have yet to fish it, but I have no doubt that it will do the trick. Matt showed me this pattern after I told him I was leaving the Island for Calgary. I was upset that I would be missing the steelhead season on the Cowichan, but Matt cheered me up by saying "On the Bow, there are brown's as big as steelhead." Matt is a great guy, with lots of time and patience for the million stupid questions I had. If you're in Victoria, make sure you stop by Robinson's and see Matt.
  8. I agree, these are some interesting patterns. Thanks for the inspiration! Rock the Vote
