Rod Building

Like I really needed a new activity to blow money on, I'm about to enter the sinister world of rod building. I ordered a book and my first blank (kit) and I will be shopping for tools and a diversity of materials required to put these things together. I surfed the net and found lots of sites that sell what I need, I am however, looking for a shop in Calgary that carries supplies and tools for this hobby. I prefer to have a look at something in my hands prior to buying it. Next time I am in the city I intend to swing by and have a peek. Any suggestions?

Fishtales is probably your best bet, however they don't carry it all, (close though that store has the best stock and variety) dancraft is probably the best online retailer but you've probably already knew that.

If you can't find it locally, I would recommend Andy Snedden in Victoria.

Dan Craft is a great resource as well although I'm not sure he will ship to Calgary, he prefers that you shop at Fishtales and order through tem.

Fishtales is your best bet. Ask for Wayne. Super knowledgeable and helpful when getting started. I would recommend the building course that Wayne teaches at the shop too. And I agree with the previous posts about Dan Craft. My first build was a dan craft...man is that thing sweet!
