Hello everyone.

I’m looking for advice on choosing the best trolling motor battery for regular fishing trips. I currently use my trolling motor for several hours at a time, so runtime and reliability are important to me.

I’m considering lithium, AGM, and traditional lead acid batteries, but I’m not sure which option offers the best value over several seasons.

Is lithium really worth the higher upfront cost, or would a quality AGM battery be a better choice?

I’d also appreciate recommendations on battery capacity, charging requirements, and brands that have proven reliable for other boat owners.

What battery setup has worked best for you?

depends on use, are you just trolling or run and gun to different locations. If i was still living in jasper i would of changed my system to litium manly for weight and charging time. I use to have  two  banks (4 batteries) of type 34 for my 24 volt motor total weight 160lbs. And an 12volt  to run my  smaller spare motor incase of motor failure (i learned this the way)To heavy to leave in the boat for trailing home. Have to unload from the boat and reload for next trip. If I came home late batteries were not full charged for an early start next day. I eventually owned 8 batteries to make sure i always had a set of fully charged batteries.  This may seem extravagant  but honestly most of the guys fishing maligne seriously used basicly the same system.
