Cabin on the Livingston

Hi, 

Went to the Livingston for the first time in years and went into two access trails. Both had old faded signs posted that were completely blank/white except you could kind of make out the word "NO" faintly on one of them. I thought it must mean no trespassing, so I went back out and went down the next trail. I also came to a sign and this one was completely blank/white. I went a little further and there was a big cabin there with a metal roof on it. There was a truck parked there, so I assumed this was somehow private property and this guy had built a cabin there. I turned around and left. It's around mile marker #50 (on the new markers) about 4km downstream of the bridge. Anyone familiar with this?

Yes, that's the Rocking P cabin. Cabin is on the only parcel of private land in that portion of the forestry. Can't remember if the signs are on the private land or on the greater chunk of grazing lease that the Rockin' P controls in that area. The signs date from a time when the current ranch manager/foreman went off his nut and tried to rip wheeler the fishing and random camping access on that portion of the Livingston. I have no idea of who got him to backoff, the family who owns the ranch or the government but the issue has been largely ignored since that time if random camps and parked fishing vehicles are any clue in the yrs since. All this was more than 20yrs ago.

I'm assuming that, although the land and access is private, you can access from above or below and fish through (staying below the high water mark of course), just like any other stretch? For some reason, I seem to remember years ago someone mentioning on this board that the Livingston and the Crowsnest were the only two streams where someone actually owned the streambed rights on their private property too? Wondering if this is one of them?
