walker1 Posted Friday at 06:55 PM Posted Friday at 06:55 PM Hi all. Looking to replace my Simms g3 guides that have served me over 10 years. They have vibrim ( worn out) and laces. Would buy these discontinued in a heart beat but can not find a size 12 anywhere. Wondering for those that have the Boa system if you like? Comments? Do they tighten up well all across the boot? Also, anyone fishing with the patagonia foot tractors with the aluminum bars that want to chime in? Thanks Quote
snuffy Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I had BOAs on a pair of Korkers and on a bunch of cycling shoes. They work well, but the mechanism can jam up with mud. I soured on them when I had one break way back in the bush. They can be replaced, but it's not something you want to do on the stream. Since then I've stuck to laces (and carry a spare). I also have a pair of the river tractors and they have amazing traction. They are also incredibly heavy, not suited for walk and wade IMHO. The Simms alumabite system gives you almost as much traction without the weight Quote
walker1 Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Thanks for that snuffy. I will probably go with simms g3 in laces. I always wore simms boots and waders but bought the patagonia waders with the zipper front and like them . Simms quality is not the same as 20 years ago IMO but i wore g3 boots for 12 years so hard to knock that. The patagoina boots look good but seem heavy like you added and looks like there is not a lot of ankle support. I have the boat for the bow so not walking lots there but like to fish the crow and liv too. Quote
