Scottmisfits
I have a rod, built by my Dad, late 70’s or early 80’s. But not a lot of information past that. Fenwick Woodstream 102-6-5 are the markings. From what I can gather, the FL designation was the blank, FF was used in factory built rods. 102 is 8’6”, 6 is 6w, and the 5 is the pieces, similar to what system is still being used today to identify. I have searched around and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of info on the FL designation, only guesses that the FL designated a blank. There is nothing special about the ferrules on it, but Dad did wrap them and coat them, I believe with varnish, not epoxy. There is no ”bubble” around any of the thread. Taco
All I can say is try it with 5, 6, or 7 line and see which one you like best. This bunch may be able to answer your questions a bit better but I do know that Woodstream was pre NAFTA manufacturing deal to get around import duties https://fiberglassflyrodders.com/forum/
Scottmisfits
Thanks Taco. I will check that out. I do enjoy using it, it just carries a nostalgic value to me so I don't use it that much. I have a 6w floating and a sinking for it and it seems to cast the sinking line just a bit better. I like travelling with it as well being that it's a 5 piece, not the standard of the time of a 2 piece.
