headscan Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Ran across these: http://www.flymenfishingcompany.com/products.html They look interesting, but I can't help thinking that a couple of little bumps aren't going to make much if any difference for catching fish. Anyone ever try these or something similar? Quote
ladystrange Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 ooo shiny, i'd try em... the gimmick could work, just think, a few more angles to reflect light off of. or it's just a gimmick and doesnt work at all... but that's ok, it's shiny Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 they're tungsten, so will sink fast, but i don't see them being any better Quote
ladystrange Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 but it's shiny, more shiny that the regular ones. i need shiny stuff... Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 i dont see them being any more shiny... buff your old ones? shiny can be good, but could also cause a timid fish to freak out with the glint of sun Quote
headscan Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 the gimmick could work, just think, a few more angles to reflect light off of. I'd think that those faceted tungsten beads would do a better job of that. If I was headed to the shop to pick up some beads and saw these, I might be tempted to try them if they were the same price as regular tungsten beads. Otherwise I think you hit the nail on the head - gimmick. Quote
albannachxcuileag Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 At 6 bucks a pack I think I will stick with a drop or two of varnish on my existing beads! Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 they're tungsten, which is why they're so expensive Quote
Inconnu Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I think the "nymph" aspect is meant to catch us tyers....I mean look what it has done to the Strange One! I have also seen some beads with a slot cut in them for better placement as well, that is an aspect I think would be of value. Those nymph beads sure do look shiny though........ Quote
