Roast Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 For the last few years we have went to the junior Forrest warden lot out west of the city, The trees have always been very sparse and I am looking to go the permit route, For those who cut their own, where is a good area to find a tree? My two year old doesn't have a lot of patience. Any help is appreciated Quote
BurningChrome Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Not sure about the patience part, but if you drive a 4x4 a few guys I know get their trees out in Waiparous. Quote
Roast Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Thanks for the help. I ended up finding a great page with links to maps, rules etc. For anyone who is interested: https://www.agric.gov.ab.ca/app21/forestrypage?cat1=Tree%20Cutting&cat2=Permit%20Maps 1 Quote
Dangus Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Ever take a look at Those 20 dollar ikea trees? Some are pretty decent. That or I have low standards ha Quote
BigFoamy Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Ive never had a real tree for christmas once my sister always does. They smell nicer, but dont look near as good as the fakes lol! Not only is my tree fake, its white I have no control where my wife is concerned. Quote
Roast Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Ya we have bought those in the past and they are great. We have went the cutting route for something fun to do on the weekend with our daughter Quote

I love the scene from Christmas Vacation when they go to get one and forget the saw lol!!!! Quote
bigfry Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 persosonally i want to go the easy route on any holiday. don't want to add to my already long to do list but my wife kept wanting fresh cut, one year i finally gave in, one day she saw a bug crawl out and now we go fake tree year after year 1 Quote
Conor Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 My kids always want to get an IKEA tree. Lame. This year I am going to force everyone into forestry to cut one. Mandatory Christmas fun! Grizzwald caroling and all. Patience is not needed if expectations aren't high. You can be in and out of forestry in 10 min if you are fine with a Charlie Brown tree. Quote
jasonvilly Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 There are lots of good trees off of the powederface trail (which I believe is close to the Junior Wardens) You are able to get the $5 tree cutting permit that you mentioned, which is good for 3 christmas trees I believe. However, powderface closes soon (Dec 15 if I recall) and, if you go that route make sure you have a 4 x 4, with the snow that road can get pretty slippery. Quote
