somereddeerguy
Look up the Morrish October caddis dry and I think its called the Morrish deep October caddis. I also have had decent luck skating a sofa pillow. curious to see what patterns other guys use!
Dangus
Was thinking that they could be fluttering around in the next couple weeks given how early everything else has been
troutlover
you would be amazed at how well a small orange jimmy legs works. Or a 2 toned jimmy 3/4 dark 1/4 orange. I find the absolute best way to fish the October caddis hatch is during their migration (early august) fast water 1 to 2 feet. They crawl with their case to shore and hang out there till emergence. Last year the hatch was the biggest ive seen on the Bow.
Dangus
Great little resource on the naturals, fly patterns and when/where to present each stage of the life cycle. http://www.west-fly-fishing.com/entomology/caddis/october.shtml
Dangus
Trout, how long would you estimate the larva were? Did you notice the adults being the dark wing variety or more of a pumpkin orange?
troutlover
I like pumpkin. some I will put a dark CDC collar on but usually im pressed for time so I make it simple. Size is an inch on a #12 scud hook. Some I do a hot orange wire wrap. Really when you are fishing fast water I find the fish are less picky.
