porto Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Hello, Looking for some feedback/advise on a streamer rod for Bow River and area. My Orvis 8wt is to much rod and heavy for the amount of casting I'm doing with big streamers in this area.. I'm looking at the Sage Pulse 790-4 and 7100-4 as options. It's a new rod in market and reviews are good. Most are saying its a fast action but a couple reviews have it at fast/mid action. Hoping for fast action, higher end with what I'm use to at a reasonable price ($575). One other question, I'm leading towards a 10' rod over the 9'. Thoughts on length? Any feedback or advice on other models and same price range or cheaper. Highly appreciated. Thanks Quote
BurningChrome Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I've heard good things about the Pulse from people who've cast it, but haven't cast one myself. I don't think I'd want a 10' rod for single hand overhead casting streamers though, just because I think the extra length would cause fatigue a lot sooner. A 10' rod would be good for nymphing though. Quote
darrinhurst Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I have a 10'0" 7wt Orvis Helios2 that I use exclusively for casting streamers, and I love it. I have gone on many day long trips with it, and have yet to get fatigued from casting all day. The extra length helps immensely with mending, and keeping the big gnarly flies in the air. Quote
