alhuger Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 After this season of fishing some of my sinking line is shot, or at least is in rough shape. I am looking to cut it down and convert it to sink tips. Does anyone know how to calculate the grains based off the IPS and actual weight in grams of the length of line? Is their a formula. My line in question is type VIII super fast sink. -al Quote
cheeler Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 1 gram = 15.4323584 grains You won't need to factor in the sink rate, as its based on density, not grain weight alone. Quote
toolman Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Al, What brand, line wt. is your sinking line? The total head length/weight is what you need to know. For example, if it has a 40' DC sinking head and weights 320 grains, then the tip weight would be 8 grains/foot. Quote
