scel Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 It took me a bit to 'get' it, but I greatly prefer the perfection loop. Before, I had used the surgeons loop. Mechanically, I think the surgeon loop to be stronger. What do you use? Is there a difference is strength? Is there a situation where one should be used over the other? Quote
ÜberFly Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I use the triple figure 8. Depending on whether you use straight mono or tapered leader. Listen here: http://midcurrent.com/2013/05/31/video-how-and-why-to-tie-the-triple-figure-eight-knot/ 1 Quote
FraserN Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I always use the surgeons loop. It is very strong. Quote
scel Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 I tried using the figure 8 knot. It is great knot for a straight leader. What I really like about it is that you can use your forceps to keep the loop really small. i.e instead of making a loop and twisting it 3 times with your fingers, wrap a loop around forceps, twist your forceps for 3 revolutions, and grab the loop with the forceps to pull it through the hole. I also really like how the figure 8 knot stays straight. Thanks for the tips. 1 Quote
