gottalovecutts Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Been tying the Jimmy Legs as my go to stonefly pattern the last couple seasons. Tie it as a golden stone, the wierd thing is with it, the yellow legs seem to turn green in spots over time. Doesnt seem to be adjacent any green flies in my fly box...just wondering, has anyone else run into this problem? Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Rust from copper ribbing maybe. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 We all get a bit rusty and crusty as we age I've found that artificial materials can change over time and weather, rubber becomes more brittle and discolor, natural materials stay the same. You can see it on many classic flies. Quote
tgo Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 stretch floss legs are far more durable than rubber, not sure about the discoloration though Quote
bhurt Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I have been using the stretch floss legs for a couple of seasons now, I have not had any discolor on me yet. Only complaint I have (which is a minor one) is when the fly hangs bottom I end up most of the time stripping a leg or too off to get the fly instuck then it turns into a cripple pattern for me.
