Fishslayer74
I'm planning on going pike fishing this week and was wondering the knot used to attach the mono to the wire leader. I'm thinking it's a albright not but I'm not a 100% on that. If it is an albright knot does the mono get wrapped around the wire? Cheers. Guest Wrecker
allbright knot thinner line wraps around the thicker
jksnijders
Nail knot between mono and steel works fine also. Pull test, good to go.
Fishslayer74
Use a swivel in between! Problem solved! P Yeah, a swivel sound so much easier. I was going to go 7' of 30lb Maxima to a small swivel then 2-3' of wire to the fly. Way easier...
Fishslayer74
allbright knot thinner line wraps around the thicker So what your saying if I was to use the albright knot then the thinner wire line would wrap around the thicker 30lb mono??????? Tougher to cast and pike aren't flyline or leader shy. Shorter is better usually.
ÜberFly
To follow up with my previous post... I use ~2' of mono (20 lb or more depending on the size you are expecting), then a swivel and then 6" - 8" of wire... The simple swtich for my bully rig is to just swap out the wire for 12" - 16" of mono (or longer depending on the depth you are fishing)... When you put the 12"-16" of mono on for bullies what weight do you use for that?
ÜberFly
10 lb - 12 lb normally. 15 lb at the top end. P Right on. That's what I'll do. When you put the 12"-16" of mono on for bullies what weight do you use for that?
