sldrose Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Hi I'm looking into a pair of Maui Jim's polarized glasses for trout spotting. (if my health cover can give me a good enough rebate) Greys are generally too dark for my liking. and amber is usually the goto colour. Has anyone tried the new HT (High Transmission) lens? They're supposed to be good in lesser lighting conditions. How do they compare to the amber or rose when it comes to spotting trout? cheers Sean Quote
brownonbow Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I find everything looks better through rose colored glasses Quote
kritofr Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I have a pair with the rose color lens and have worn them for many years of fishing and for shooting sporting clays. They offer a nice contrast in brighter light situations. I just purchased a pair in the HT lense and like them more than the rose. I haven't found them to let in too much light on the brighter days and are ver very good in low light situations. They are prescriptions and I need them for driving. I forgot my regular glasses one evening after my sons indoor soccer game and ended up using the sunglasses instead. With the street lights being the only source of light I didn't find the HT lenses too dark. Quote

I just bought a pair of the polycarb HT for $140 If I really like them, I'll donate them to the missus and get a prescription pair. They're quoting me $770 for the prescription ones. I.e. $250 frames and $520 single power lenses. Please tell me u know where to get them cheaper Cheers Sean Quote
lad Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I just bought a pair of Mj "sport". They are a polarized amber lense, and bi focal so i can still tie on the small flies. I did not realize they made bi-focal sun glasses. The sales person who sold them to me called them "readers". Maybe it's old news but it made me very happy. You can buy them in different magnifications. I paid 219. for them in Kalispell a couple of weeks ago at the ski haus. Quote

I did find a small discount due to a sale at the time at Iris, so check around. Quote
