miked Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Hey all. I am seriously planning on taking an extra day off work and heading to Calgary on the Thursday to take in the film festival before the fly fishing show. While I have familly I can stay with over the weekend for the show, I dont wanna impose on them for the Thursday night as I will be getting in to town not long before the films start and I assume it may be a late night. Looking for some recomendations for a hotel/motel near where the IF4 is being held. Afordability is also a good thing as this will be an expensive weekend for me. Proximity to restaurants/pubs also a good thing lol. Thanks for any help. Mike Quote
bigbowtrout Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 The best on MacLoad trail might be the Delta http://www.expedia.ca/Calgary-Hotels-Delta...tel-Information and is a short drive to the film fest. Lots of places to eat and drink on MacLoad trail so your options are plenty. Also lots of hotels on MacLoad trail that will fit any budget. If you want some night life and want to be able to stumble back to your room check out the Carriage house Inn. Its an older hotel but has been upgraded. They have a good sports bar and across the street is the famous Ranchmans http://www.ranchmans.com/ Or you can check out the Kings Head for a little cougar hunting (right Lynn?) Also three of our Local Sponsor Fly Shops are on or just off of MacLoad Trail. Country Pleasures http://countrypleasures.com/index.php FishTales http://www.fishtalesflyshop.com/ Southbow http://southbow.ca/ Make sure to visit all three. Quote
bhurt Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I forget the name of the hotel( I belive it is a best western) and they are down the road from where the film is beeing played, there is also Boston Pizza and Original Joes in the same area, so if you want to have a couple of drinks you can walk to your hotel, no need to drink and drive, imo its just not worth it. Edit, I just googled it and it is a Hospitality Inn that is down the road from where the film is beeing played. Quote

miked Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Thanks guys I'll try a few of them out. I am somewhat familiar with Calgary but it has been 5-6 years since I last been. Also do absolutely plan on seeing all three shops either at the shop or at the show and I know there will be many dollars spent lol! Its kinda funny in past times to Calgary although I've never fished I have certainly spent a few dollars at the fly shops. Its an addiction lol as I'm sure many here know! Once again thanks! looking forward to meeting some people at the film festival and the expo. Mike Quote
Gaffer Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 The one that is directly behind Fish Tales is a Holiday Inn Express. Andrew Quote
