dryfly Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Part II These shots were taken in the hole in the ground...not actual wintering den as it was too shallow. When taking photos, it is normal practice to use scissors to clip away grass and other plant stems from around the primary subject. This did not seem like a swell idea in this case, so just shot as best as possible through the clutter. Was fun! May go back next week. Thanks for looking. Clive Quote
DougC Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Awesome shots. Just out of curiosity, how close are you getting to them? It looks like you are a braver man than I would be! Quote
dryfly Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks. Was about 6 feet from the heads in the hole. They were hunkered down wondering WTF was going on and who was disturbing their afternoon rest. The top photo is not cropped much. Here is the uncropped original...just resized. Quote
Toirtis Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Very nice shots. I do love our crotalids....unfortunately, I was able to get out herping only twice this summer....once along the Oldman North of Taber, and once down by the Hat....finding plenty of rattlers, but few bullsnakes, unfortunately. zed Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 i used to see lots of rattlers at writing-on-stone as a kid, that might make for some fine pictures. Quote
