Three Flies Or Two Rods

Recommended Posts

Which regulation is better? Alberta with the one rod 3 flies or BC with 2 rods and one fly on ea. as long as your solo in a boat on a lake.

My self i like the BC rule, i find it keeps me a little busier. I seam to change flies often, cover more water.I can't say i've ever had a problem with too many double headers,if idid i guess i would just fish one rod then.

I guess it would depend if you primarily fish lakes or streams... Personally, I mostly fish streams when in BC and using a single fly (most times) is a PITA (when nymphing)... I can definitely see an advantage using 2 rods if you fish lakes, though...

I fish BC lakes a fair bit, but I've never found the two rod thing to work for me. The fish have an uncanny ability to know which rod I'm holding, and they automatically head for the other one. For me, fishing is about relaxation first, and catching fish second. Trying to manage two rods is not very relaxing, for me at least. Similarly, when fishing in Alberta, I stick to two flies maximum. Casting three flies doesn't help with the relaxation. Terry
