If your new to tying my advice would be start with chironomids super easy to tie, not much material, also it's an easy way to get that satisfaction of hooking a fish on a fly you tied...My son has caught a fish on his own tie and he's 6.

Woolly Buggers and clouser minnows are both easy to tie and great on many species of fish. You can tie them in a variety of colours to suit different needs. For dry flies elk hair caddis are easy and very useful.

Bow River - SJW, prince nymph, hares ear, stone fly, for dries Adams, elk hair caddis, grasshoppers. Steamer fishing is no fun so don't bother.....
