birchy
Anyone else playing in any hockey pools this year? I'm playing in a "Just for Fun" league on Yahoo Sports with a few of my buddies. I'm trying to decide on a couple of roster moves.. but I'm torn. Would love some feedback from a few of you hockey guys! I had written out a big long explanation of my thought process.. then I thought, I don't want to lead people in the wrong direction. So I'll just do it with a poll. Who would you pick? Brian Campbell or Bryan McCabe (keeping in mind Campbell is expected to be out for the first ~3 weeks)? Tomas Vokoun or Chris Mason?
jasonvilly
Brian Campbell played 68 games and got 38 points, even if he misses 3 weeks, he will only miss 9 games, barring any other injury he should surpass McCabes 43 points in 82 games. It was a 5 point differential, I am sure Campbell would come close to or surpass McCabe. Also I don't think florida is going to score many goals this year, Chicago even with their loses will outscore them as a team. I believe Steve Mason will have a comeback year, like his rookie year, however Vokoun is pretty consistent with at least 5-8 shut outs a year. But the team in front of him will be pretty weak this year.

Biggest difference from last years stats is that Chris Mason is playing for Atlanta this year, not St. Louis. I think the Thrashers are a bit better than the Panthers.. but not much. jasonvilly
Ah Dang, I forgot about Chris Mason, I didn't even think he had a job this year, I would pick Vokoun over Chris, better chance at some shutouts. Both teams in my opinion will be equally bad.
birchy
Khabibulan is another option for me too, actually... will he have a bounce back year? Or will he get hurt again? As an Oilers fan, I kinda want to take him.. but last year makes me uneasy. Most figure that the Oilers won't be that much better this year than last.. but at least will be exciting to watch. But will they be worse than Atlanta or Florida?! Decisions, decisions...
fishfreak
I don't have much faith in Khabibulan lasting the whole year. I think he's going to get hurt again, but I hope I'm wrong.
