FlyFishingEMT Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I went down to the bow last night after hearing some rumours of big browns feeding later at night but didn't have much luck. So I'm looking for some tips on how to nymph in the dark? Is there such a thing as a glow in the dark indicator? Any useful tips or tricks for fishing at night would be greatly appreciated. Quote
birchy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Yep! http://www.fishwest.net/Merchant2/merchant...Code=WW33TBSIGL Although I believe the preferred technique when fishing in the dark is either swinging/stripping flies or streamers in the current, and letting the fish hook themselves. Quote
Bigtoad Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Don't nymph. Throw on a chernobyl ant and start twitching it from 20ft to tight to the bank. Set the hook when you here "sploosh". Cheers. Quote
BBBrownie Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Nymphing would certainly not be my first choice at night... Quote
FlyFishingEMT Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 Hey thanks guys. What about headlamps? Do you turn them off when you have your line in the water or do you think it makes a difference? Quote
ÜberFly Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 This time of year swing a "Skid Bitch"! P P.S. You might want to bring some clean underwear to change into for the drive home! LoL (when the big boys hit it can scare the $hit out of you!) Quote
cheeler Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Note that using a headlamp to attract fish is against the regulations but using a glow in the dark indicator should be ok: It Is Unlawful To: Use lights to sportfish unless the light is attached to a hook or line used in angling. http://www.albertaregulations.ca/fishingregs/ Quote
