If ya factor in the cost of a couple spare spools on other reels this seems like a steal!!!! Even if ya burned out a few cartridges they're reel cheap to replace I guess what im lookin' for is.... how does a cartridge hold up when a reel big fish is rippin' line off ur spool vs a machined spool. Jayhad Posted April 9, 2010 Share Posted April 9, 2010 I've used cartridge reels in the past, historically the casettes could split with the lethal combination of a line machine and i'll trained users but that has pretty much been eliminated. They are awesome if you switch up lines regularly, great if you are stillwater fishing and you only have the one rod. If you want a great reel with inexpensive spools you may want to look at the Sage 3800 series. Not a cartridge reel but the spools are carbon fibre so they come out cheap. CDone Posted April 9, 2010 Share Posted April 9, 2010 The new Snowbee Geo reel will be available in a cassette model as well, using the same drag as the rest of the Snowbee, this will be a sweet light weight cassette reel, 3/4 weights 122gm and the 5/6 weighs 128gm.
