cheeler Posted April 2, 2010 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I couldn't find what I wanted for a 10' light switch rod, so I took the course at Fishtales with Wayne and built my own on a 10' 4 wt Dancraft FT blank. So far it's been a great stick for nymphing but also can punch a line a fair ways for the stillwaters. I've also got a cut down 40+ for a scandi head. bhurt Posted April 2, 2010 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Neil, You should try the rainshawon blank, I got a 5wt 10foot 6 and I placed a three inch handle on the bottom. Not finished it yet as I just don't have the time to finish the epoxy but I think this would be a sweet rod, once I get mine done we should hit the river and try each others out. cheeler Posted April 2, 2010 Author Share Posted April 2, 2010 I've tried it with a 5 wt rio gold, 6 wt SA distance line, and the modified 40+ for swinging small streamers - the 6 wt works good for overhead and nymphing and the 5 can be a little light at close range.
