i can relate...was bitten once while ice fishing. bled like a stuck pig for hours.

bitten only once? I get bitten (or at least bleed some) just about every time I go out. fair game says I It's amazing how fast a pike can double back on itself

i think only a few fish can actually catch their tails lol. if only he had slid his hand up to the gills/fins area you can prevent them from doing that

I think the fish he was releasing was a trout and the pike came at him from in the water.

There was a grayling being released, and the pike was after that grayling. Pretty sure this is posted a couple years back on the site, but it's a classic now.

there was a bunch of good pike attack vids on youtube. have to take a looksee later - always good for a laugh.

Watched the live version the other day, a group of pike working a pod of whitefish. 8-9 different times you'd see a huge boil and a pike would swim by with a whitefish in it's face. Needless to say nymphing for whitefish was kinda slow and my 8wt and bigassed streamers were @ home.
