cheeler
You can use em with just a long mono leader, and add a splitshot a few inches above it, but if that doesn't get you down where you need to be you may need a sink tip line.
acurrie
Just buy the 15 foot sink tip type 5 or 6 and attach it to with a perfection loop to your fly line (its worth it- $20 bucks a think). But something I was never told, keep your leader (off the sink tip) like really short, 2-3 feet max. It's way easier to cast a sink tip line then 2 or 3 split shots on 12 feet of mono--- DUCK! maxwell
drew nailed it! best and simplest way too have a streamer rig on your rod! the rio tips i find are the best! get one too match your line weights.. eg.. 6wt line 6wt tip! type 6 if prettymuch perfect for what you want! reevesr1
I fished with a floating line and splits for the first time in awhile yesterday. I forgot to bring my extra spool of sink tip. I casted like garbage with the splits as opposed to the sink tip. Still caught fish, but I was a menace to myself!
