This might be a dumb question, but I'd like confirmation as I'm still quite new to this. I crossed the side channel at Bankside to get onto Poplar Island and then noticed a City of Calgary sign in the bushy area away from the water. I should have taken a pic of it so I could post it, but in a nutshell, the sign says the area is off limits and you could be fined $172. My question is: Does that only apply to those bushy areas or is it for the entire island? I asked an experienced angler and he didn't realize you could get fined there. I've also seen drift boaters land on the island and fish from there while I was on the other side of the river. I tried Googling it but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know for certain that you can or cannot fish from Poplar Island? Thanks.
