I need to start diving in the Bow, there has got to be a ton of treasures. Further to above random items I forgot about my anchor that I lost.

I put an anchor I found on the bottom of the river, on top of an exposed rock 300m upstream of bankside last year.  Might still be In the vicinity if you look close. Then again maybe someone scooped it

I signed it and took a photo as thats what the CO told me to do... Funny as i was checked at Upper K this spring and the guy didnt bat an eye at the unsigned PDF

If a guy is geared up with a couple thousand dollars of gear...pretty safe bet.

Probably look a little closer if you haven’t taken the plastic off the foam handle of your Shakespeare extra heavy spinning rod.

Must have been bad luck for the fish creek one. i've been checked thrice this year by them (was given *hit for not having a signed copy of my license [had the pdf on my phone], but just a warning). They're usually the easiest to get enforcement from

Ya I’ve been given *hit for that too.  They said it’s cause they can’t scan it. I made a PDF and signed it digitally, and they can scan it from their phone.  I tested it out with one of them.

  4. Last week, Saw some guys that looked like they bonked one at bankside. Called it in, get a call back from a guy in cochrane and that he can’t get a hold of the guy around fish creek.  So, the guys went home and a had a fish fry.

month or so back was below the dam on the elbow with the dog, saw some skids rigging bait (and pink Powerbait nuggs Floated by) called it in.  Officer didn’t even know the access to get down to the base of the dam.  Made me wonder how so few officers Don’t know about popular access points.  Especially since I’ve personally called in two poaching events at that spot this spring and summer.

not blaming them, but still frustrating.

  5. the “20 inch rainbow” story reminds me a little of the “hey we got lots of snow and it was cold” story as it relates to global warming. :P

Don’t get mad at me. Just something I came across.  I too, wondered how much those things have to eat to maintain that mass.

Further reading reveals that the pelican populations were crushed and they are finally starting to rebound.  May account for your 70’s observations.

I did notice that the power lines  flossed a few around mac last year.   So the bow has that going for it. Ha

I grew up on the Banks of the Bow River.

    First sighting was about 1975.

Maybe go and give one a hug..KRK..

Apparently, They were documented in Alberta in the late 1700’s. Gonna go out on a limb here and say that they’ve been on the bow for longer. That being said, it may have become more popular for them as the fishery blew up after the sewage injections.

Surprised nobody mentioned this yet. Over the years the treatment plants have gotten "cleaner" by not pumping as much phosphate into the river, which means less fertilizer for river flora. Less flora probably means fewer bugs...

I was sort of joking, sort of serious.

here is the history of the upgrades. Last I see Is 1980 for phosphates.  I suppose it could have taken a couple decades to trickle down. Who knows...
