  1. Great pictures, may be older than me but you guys catch 4x times as many fish, hahaha! Thank you for posting, keeps me dreaming of summer dry fly fishing! Nick
  2. Thank you for the advice Flyfisher! I am using UTC 70 thread, not sure what 8/0 is (my apologizes I am very new so some of this blew right over my head). I have been using silver flashabou but I have trouble obtaining an even wrap, still lots of work to do on the chironomids. As for durability I have just been coating them with head cement but the Elmer's sounds like a good idea. Thank you again for the advice! Nick
  3. Amazing ties Gary, wow is all I can say. Andy those look great, I agree, the deer heads look awesome! Sorry this post is picture heavy. I have turned my attention from big streamers to some winter Bow flies and some different chironomid patterns. Still trying to perfect the Wooly Buggers, lots of work to do on them still. The double chironomid pattern on the bottom was a bit of an experiment, turned out a little rough but I had seen this pattern before in the shop. Nick
  4. Thank you for the replies guys, I ended up having a lot of luck with the Zuddler Minnow pattern, however I wasn't able to successfully tie it. Going to give it another go because it worked very well. Looking into Muddlers as well. Nick
  5. Thank you Murray. In regards to the cone heads, those are the first ties, my other ones were wet from fishing however I have filled the gap on the fly as you noted. I appreciate the tips and I will fill in those gaps. Once again, thank you! Those are some great looking flies Panther! I like the mouse pattern! Nick
  6. Hey guys, I love seeing what everyone is tying. I just started tying about a week ago, from a kit that I received for Christmas, as well as lots of materials bought at the fly shop, need to work on some things but I am starting to get the hang of things. Most of the flies in the pictures I have about 3 or four of, some in different colour combos. And of course constructive criticism is always welcome as well. Thank you, Nick
  7. Thank you for the replies guys, very much appreciated!
  8. Sounds like I should work on technique and tie some stingers, thank you for the input guys! Much appreciated!
  9. Hey guys! I have been using streamers much more, for Bull trout and Cutthroats too. I have noticed that I get a lot of strikes and sometimes fight the fish for a couple seconds but then end up loosing them, I am thinking that this may be because the fish is biting the back of the streamer and not the hook. Is there anything I can do to improve my success or is this something I should just get used too? Thank you!
  10. Thank you for all the replies guys! Will hit the fly shop before I head out. Much appreciated!
  11. I'm going to Elbow and Tombstone lakes this weekend with my dad for a backcountry trip. I am not familiar with lake fishing, let alone alpine lakes. Just wondering if someone could recommend a couple flies that I should bring along. Thank you guys!
  12. Thank you WyomingGeorge! That should leave me with many patterns to try tying and try my luck learning to streamer fish, thank you so much for the information!
  13. Hey guys! I am just getting into tying flys and have been trying to get into some Cutts. I am going out in a few days and wanted to see if I could move some with a streamer. Any advice on what to tie would be great! Thanks in advance!
